Upstream open reading frames (uORFs) are -regulatory motifs that are predicted to occur in the 5' UTRs of the majority of human protein-coding transcripts and are typically associated with translational repression of the downstream primary open reading frame (pORF). Interference with uORF activity provides a potential mechanism for targeted upregulation of the expression of specific transcripts. It was previously reported that steric block antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) can bind to and mask uORF start codons to inhibit translation initiation, and thereby disrupt uORF-mediated gene regulation.

There are some conflicting results regarding alterations of gut microbial composition in schizophrenia (SZ), even a few meta-analysis studies have addressed this field. Ignoring of antipsychotic medication effects may cause the large heterogeneity and impact on study results. This study is a meta-analysis to systematically evaluate composition of gut microbiota in patients with SZ, to elucidate the impact of antipsychotic use and reveal distinct and shared gut bacteria in SZ and antipsychotic medications.

Understanding the dynamics of open quantum systems in strong coupling and non-Markovian regimes remains a formidable theoretical challenge. One popular and well-established method of approximation in these circumstances is provided by the polaron master equation (PME). In this work, we re-evaluate and extend the validity of the PME to capture the impact of non-Markovian polaron dressing, induced by non-equilibrium open system dynamics.
