Association of blood group types and clinico-pathological features of gynecological cancers (GCs).

BMC Cancer

January 2025

Molecular Diseases & Diagnostics Division, Infinity Biochemistry, Infinity Solutions Unlimited, Sajjad Abad, Chattabal, Srinagar, 190010, Kashmir, India.

Background: Gynecological cancers (GCs) affect the reproductive system of females, and are of multiple types depending on the affected organ most common of which are cervical, endometrial, ovarian cancers. Among different risk factors for GCs, ABO blood group system is considered as one of the pivotal contributing factors for increased susceptibility of GCs. The aim of our study was to report on the demographics of GC patients and to investigate the relationship between the ABO blood group system and the risk of acquiring GC in our population.

Background: Studies on rest durations during high-intensity interval training (HIIT) often compare fixed and self-selected (SS) rest allocation approaches. Frequently, the rest duration under SS conditions is unlimited, leading to inconsistent total rest durations compared to fixed rest conditions. To address this limitation, we recently compared fixed and SS rest conditions during cycling HIIT sessions, while keeping the total rest duration equivalent.

Echinococcus multilocularis delta/notch signalling components are expressed in post-mitotic cells.

Parasitol Res

December 2024

Institute of Hygiene and Microbiology, University of Würzburg, Josef-Schneider-Strasse 2, 97080, Würzburg, Germany.

Pluripotent somatic stem cells are the drivers of unlimited growth of Echinococcus multilocularis metacestode tissue within the organs of the intermediate host. To understand the dynamics of parasite proliferation within the host, it is therefore important to delineate basic mechanisms of Echinococcus stem cell maintenance and differentiation. We herein undertake the first step towards characterizing the role of an evolutionarily old metazoan cell-cell communication system, delta/notch signalling, in Echinococcus cell fate decisions.

Background: The aim of cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI)-dependent flutter ablation is the bidirectional conduction block of the CTI. Very-high-power short-duration (vHPSD) radiofrequency ablation aims to minimize conductive heating and increase resistive heating to create shallower but wider lesions in a very short time, while reducing the risk of collateral tissue damage. Experimental studies have shown that it produces effective transmural lesions with an equal or better safety profile compared to conventional parameters.

Article Synopsis
  • Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) seek to achieve near 100% quantum efficiency (QE) by utilizing excitons, but creating effective organic materials can be slow.
  • A new approach involves adding inorganic quantum dots, which serve as charge generation centers, to the organic luminescent layer, allowing unlimited exciton formation.
  • Using Silicon quantum dots (SiQDs), researchers showed significant improvements in external QE and electron transfer times, paving the way for wider applications across different colors and materials.
