Hybridization of alpha-fetoprotein clones cDNA with human DNAs digested by seven restriction endonucleases reveals one polymorphism. This polymorphism, detected after restriction by MspI, is at low frequency (f = 0.02) and is validated by family analysis. It corresponds to an intronic sequence, for a methylated site external to the probes utilized.

Background: Noninvasive perinatal testing is a new method of screening for aneuploidy called cell-free DNA (cfDNA). Fetal fraction (FF) plays a crucial role in assessing the reliability of aneuploidy detection through noninvasive perinatal testing.
Objective: We aimed to investigate the association between the amount of FF in cfDNA testing and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Background: Radix Fici Hirtae, the dry root of Ficus hirta, is a famous ethnomedicine and food that has been widely used by Yao and Zhuang nationalities in southern China for its potent antitumor, antifungal, and hepatoprotective effects. Recently, owing to over-exploitation and habitat destruction, F. hirta has been pushed to the brink of depletion.

Mammalian sirtuins are class III histone deacetylases involved in the regulation of multiple biological processes including senescence, DNA repair, apoptosis, proliferation, caloric restriction, and metabolism. Among the mammalian sirtuins, SIRT3, SIRT4, and SIRT5 are localized in the mitochondria and collectively termed the mitochondrial sirtuins. Mitochondrial sirtuins are NAD+-dependent deacetylases that play a central role in cellular metabolism and function as epigenetic regulators by performing post-translational modification of cellular proteins.

Rapid and accurate detection of Chlamydia psittaci, the causative agent of psittacosis, is crucial for both human and animal health but presents significant challenges, particularly in grassroots health institutions. Our previous PDTCTR fluorescence sensing platform, which combined the engineered Cas12f1_ge4.1 system with recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), significantly enhanced detection efficiency.

The tripartite-motif protein 56 (TRIM56) is a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase whose functions were recently beginning to be unveiled. While the physiological role(s) of TRIM56 remains unclear, emerging evidence suggests this protein participates in host innate defense mechanisms that guard against viral infections. Interestingly, TRIM56 has been shown to pose a barrier to viruses of distinct families by utilizing its different domains.
