The efficiency of benzodiazepines on mouse model of anticholinesterase poisoning was shown. The protective effects of clonazepam and midazolam were observed at high (1 TD50, incoordination) and medium (0.3 TD50) doses and the effects of phenazepam and diazepam were found only at high doses. Midazolam produced the most pronounced protective effect: administration of this drug significantly increased the protective index of atropine+HI-6 combination during poisoning.

Sleep disturbance causes many health problems in humans worldwide. This study evaluated the effects and possible mechanisms of sclareol (SCL) and/or linalool (LIN) through in vivo and in silico studies. For this, young chicks SCL (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg) and/or LIN (50 mg/kg) were orally administered thirty minutes before to the thiopental sodium (TS)-induced chicks with or without the standard drug diazepam (DZP: 3 mg/kg).

Most cases of anxiety are currently treated with either benzodiazepines or serotonin reuptake inhibitors. These drugs carry with them risks for a multitude of side effects, and patient compliance suffers for this reason. There is thus a need for novel anxiolytics, and among the most compelling prospects in this vein is the study of the TAARs.

Background: Providing analgesia and sedation is an essential component of caring for many mechanically ventilated patients. The selection of analgesic and sedative medications during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of these sedation practices on patient outcomes, remain incompletely characterized.
Research Question: What were the hospital patterns of analgesic and sedative use for patients with COVID-19 who received mechanical ventilation (MV), and what differences in clinical patient outcomes were observed across prevailing sedation practices?
Study Design And Methods: We conducted an observational cohort study of hospitalized adults who received MV for COVID-19 from February 2020 through April 2021 within the Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study (VIRUS) COVID-19 Registry.
