Improving the uptake of immunisations in preschool children is an ongoing public health policy strategy. Delineating the drivers and barriers affecting uptake may be helpful to health care professionals aiming to assess their own effectiveness or understand confounding factors when implementing improvement initiatives. Relevant literature was collated and placed into one of three over arching domains i) Wider environment ii) Home environment and iii) Practice Factors. A range of sub-domains are presented in addition to metrics to enable their assessment. The list of domains will be helpful to health care professionals interested in developing quality improvement programmes to increase or assess pre-school immunisation uptake.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major global health concern, with liver transplantation (LT) serving as a critical treatment for end-stage liver disease caused by HBV. However, the risk of HBV reinfection after LT remains significant, necessitating effective prophylaxis. Today, the combination of hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) and high-barrier nucleos(t)ide analogues (NUCs) is the standard of care for preventing HBV recurrence post-LT but concerns about the cost of HBIG and access to high-barrier NUCs have led to a reduction in the use, dose, and duration of HBIG in recent years.

SARS-CoV-2 is a viral infection, best studied in the context of epithelial cell infection. Epithelial cells, when infected with SARS-CoV-2 express the viral S-protein, which causes host cells to fuse together into large multi-nucleated cells known as syncytia. Because SARS-CoV-2 infections also frequently present with cardiovascular phenotypes, we sought to understand if S-protein expression would also result in syncytia formation in endothelial cells.
