Introduction: Diabesity is a pathological condition that combines obesity and type 2 diabetes in the same individual. Due to the current rise in both conditions, the prevalence of diabesity is increasing worldwide. Its etiology is known to be multifactorial; therefore, the aim of this study is to understand how diabesity is associated with various sociodemographic variables, healthy habits, and stress.

Homo-Mannich Reaction of Cyclopropanols: A Versatile Tool for Natural Product Synthesis.

ConspectusThe Mannich reaction, involving the nucleophilic addition of an enol(ate) intermediate to an imine or iminium ion, is one of the most widely used synthetic methods for the synthesis of β-amino carbonyl compounds. Nevertheless, the homo-Mannich reaction, which utilizes a homoenolate intermediate as the nucleophilic partner and provides straightforward access to the valuable γ-amino carbonyl compounds, remains underexplored. This can be largely attributed to the difficulties in generation and manipulation of the homoenolate species, despite various homoenolate equivalents that have been developed.

Background: Liver transplant (LT) patients face various challenges, including an increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) for a variety of reasons, with 70% of LT recipients having one cardiovascular event. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remains one of the most commonly performed major surgical procedures in the United States, with 20-30% of LT patients requiring a CABG. Many studies have analyzed when to perform a CABG and CAD workup pre-LT, but this population remains a problem.

Hollandite-type α-MnO exhibits exceptional promise in current industrial applications and in advancing next-generation green energy technologies, such as multivalent (Mg, Ca, and Zn) ion battery cathodes and aerobic oxidation catalysts. Considering the slow diffusion of multivalent cations within α-MnO tunnels and the catalytic activity at edge surfaces, ultrasmall α-MnO particles with a lower aspect ratio are expected to unlock the full potential. In this study, ultrasmall α-MnO (<10 nm) with a low aspect ratio (c/a ≈ 2) is synthesized using a newly developed alcohol solution process.
