Pseudoperipheral palsy can be caused by cerebral cortical infarctions; however, it is rarely caused by lacunar infarctions, including those in the posterior limb of the internal capsule. Meanwhile, the somatotopic localization of the corticospinal tract in the posterior limb of the internal capsule remains unknown. We herein report the case of an 81-year-old Japanese woman who presented with a left hand drop. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed an acute infarction as the causative lesion at the inferior level of the anteromedial portion of the posterior limb of the right internal capsule. This case report indicates the topography of hand fibers in the internal capsule.

Purpose: Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) is a complication of retinal detachment which requires multiple vitreoretinal surgical interventions and frequent use of oil endotamponade. In this study, we conducted an in-depth analysis of complications associated with the use of heavy silicone oil in the management of inferior PVR.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of 20 eyes that underwent vitrectomy for inferior PVR with use of heavy silicone oil (Densiron 68) between March 2021 and October 2022 at Oxford Eye Hospital.

Background: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the most lethal and devastating subtype of stroke. Basal ganglia hemorrhage and thalamic hemorrhage are the most common types of ICH, accounting for 50-70% of all ICH cases, leading to disability and death, and it involves the posterior limb of the internal capsule to varying degrees. Aim: To measure the optimal anterior chamber pressure (ACP) for safe phacoemulsification using a new tube chamber system with internal pressure measurement function in the porcine eye.
Methods: The 20-gauge and 21-gauge straight tips with yellow and orange sleeves, respectively, were covered by a test chamber combined with a pressure sensor for measuring ACP. This was measured for 20s from 10s after starting aspiration in the linear mode using vacuum levels of 200 and 150 mm Hg with a 20-gauge tip, and 300 and 250 mm Hg with a 21-gauge tip.
