A net gain: A kinetically assembled, but thermally stable network is obtained using the labile metal species [Cu4 I4 (PPh3 )4 ]. The network uniquely adsorbs I2 by chemisorption through I3 (-) formation. The chemisorbed I2 readily desorbs above 380 K owing to the dynamic motion of the framework. A thermodynamically assembled network physisorbs I2 , which is an exact fit for the channel.

The amorphous/crystalline (A/C) assembly in molecular solids has a direct bearing on their attributes and applications, including mechanical, pharmaceutical, electronic and photophysical.  A systematic analysis of the molecular features and interactions that determine the predilection towards the A, C or bi-stable A-C states is critical.  This fundamental problem is addressed through an exhaustive investigation of a large family of alkoxyalkyl diaminodicyanoquinodimethanes (ROR'-DADQs); enhancement of their fluorescence from the solution, to the A, to the C state serves as an excellent signature of the phase preference and temporal stability.

Optical clocks require an ultra-stable laser to probe and precisely measure the frequency of the narrow-linewidth clock transition. We introduce a portable ultraviolet (UV) laser system for use in an aluminum quantum logic clock, demonstrating a fractional frequency instability of approximately mod   = 2 × 10. The system is based on an ultra-stable cavity with crystalline AlGaAs/GaAs mirror coatings, with a frequency quadrupling system employing two single-pass second-harmonic generation (SHG) stages.

Recently, transparent wood (TW) has been considered for many energy-efficient building products, such as windows and decorations. However, the existing TW still faces issues with size and thickness, as well as problems with functional fillers affecting the optical and mechanical properties of TW, which limits its wide application in the window products. In this study, a wood composite material (WCM) with good optical, mechanical, and thermal insulation and UV-shielding properties was prepared by using delignified wood (DW), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and 4-vinylphenylboric acid (VPBA).

Snakebite envenoming remains a devastating and neglected tropical disease, claiming over 100,000 lives annually and causing severe complications and long-lasting disabilities for many more. Three-finger toxins (3FTx) are highly toxic components of elapid snake venoms that can cause diverse pathologies, including severe tissue damage and inhibition of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, resulting in life-threatening neurotoxicity. At present, the only available treatments for snakebites consist of polyclonal antibodies derived from the plasma of immunized animals, which have high cost and limited efficacy against 3FTxs.
