Recent research studies aimed to simulate facial expressions or motions due to muscle contraction using biomechanical models ranging from basic to advanced muscle constitutive models. However, these models are based on generic geometries and there is a lack of experimental data for the numerical simulation as well as for the model validation in a clinical context. The objective of our present study was to perform facial mimics simulation using subject specific data derived from MRI technique. Zygomaticus major muscle is modelled as a transversely isotropic hyperelastic material. Then the resulting effect of its shortening and lengthening process on the facial mimics simulation was performed using Finite Element Analysis. Simulation results were presented and discussed. Such study will be of interest for defining objective criteria to evaluate the facial disfigurement patients and to perform the functional rehabilitation.

Orofacial migraine (OFM) and neurovascular orofacial pain (NVOP) are both recognized as migraine-related entities affecting the facial and orofacial regions, according to the International Classification of Orofacial Pain (ICOP). However, the distinction between these two conditions and the question of whether NVOP should be considered a separate entity remain subjects of ongoing debate. The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic characteristics of OFM and NVOP to reassess whether they should continue to be classified as two distinct diagnoses.

Background: The Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) is a serious adverse reaction that occurs weeks after the onset of drug exposure. DRESS syndrome is commonly associated with antiseizure drugs, sulfa drugs, and antibiotics.
Case Presentation: This was a case report of a 20-year-old female who suffered from DRESS due to vancomycin with symptoms similar to the Redman syndrome.

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune condition characterized by a reduced platelet count due to enhanced peripheral destruction and impaired platelet production. While thrombocytopenia is a well-documented complication of various viral infections, cytomegalovirus (CMV), a member of the Herpesviridae family, is primarily associated with infections in immunocompromised patients and is rarely implicated in causing severe thrombocytopenia in immunocompetent patients. This article aims to highlight the importance of considering CMV as a significant etiological factor in ITP, particularly in cases of asymptomatic thrombocytopenia.

Paralytic Ileus (PI) patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) face a significant risk of death. Current predictive models for PI are often complex and rely on many variables, resulting in unreliable outcomes for such a serious health condition. Predicting mortality in ICU patients with PI is particularly challenging due to the vast amount of data and numerous features involved.

Background: Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a highly malignant soft tissue tumor derived from primitive embryonal mesenchymal tissue that differentiates into striated skeletal muscle. Despite the improved outcome based on the EFS and OS using the three different treatment modalities-chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgical treatment, the survival of patients depends on their IRS groups-pathological and surgical. On the other hand in the last thirty years a great improvement of the five-year overall survival (OS) of children with RMS have been observed based on the results of large multinational collaborative trials and successive studies dedicated to children, though prognosis is variable and dependent on several factors including histologic variant, primary sites of the tumor, extent of disease (disease resectability), and molecular-level characteristics.
