The study of stem cells is one of the most important biomedical research. Understanding their development could allow multiple applications in regenerative medicine. For this purpose, automated solutions for the observation of stem cell development process are needed. This study introduces an on-line analysis method for the modelling of neurosphere evolution during the early time of their development under phase contrast microscopy. From the corresponding phase contrast time-lapse sequences, we extract information from the neurosphere using a combination of phase contrast physics deconvolution and curve detection for locate the cells inside the neurosphere. Then, based on prior biological knowledge, we generate possible and optimal 3-dimensional configuration using 2D to 3D registration methods and evolutionary optimisation algorithm.

Our recent research on type-I quadrature parity-time (PT) symmetry, utilizing an open twin-beam system, not only enables observing genuine quantum photonic PT symmetry amid phase-sensitive amplification (PSA) and loss in the presence of Langevin noise but also reveals an additional classical-to-quantum (C2Q) transition in noise fluctuations. In contrast to the previous setup, our exploration of an alternative system assuming no loss involves a type-II PSA-only scheme. This scheme facilitates dual opposing quadrature-PT symmetry, offering a comprehensive and complementary comprehension of C2Q transitions and PT-enhanced quantum sensing with optimal performance in the symmetry unbroken region.

Purpose: Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant tumor of the bone. However, there is a lack of effective means for early diagnosis due to the heterogeneity of tumors and the complexity of tumor microenvironment. αvβ3 integrin, a crucial role in the growth and spread of tumors, is not only an effective biomarker for cancer angiogenesis, but also highly expressed in many tumor cells.

Background: Four-dimensional (4D) flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) shows promise for quantifying mitral regurgitation (MR) by allowing for direct regurgitant volume (RVol) measurement using a plane precisely placed at the MR jet. However, the ideal location of a measurement plane remains unclear. This study aims to systematically examine how varying measurement locations affect RVol quantification and determine the optimal location using the momentum conservation principle of a free jet.

Migration characteristics and occurrence forms of redox-sensitive metal(loid)s such as arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), and vanadium (V) remained unclear in dynamic estuarine waters. In this work, size fractionation and chemical speciation of As, Cr, and V in the Jiaomen Waterway (JMW), a tidal river of the Pearl River estuary, were explored based on (ultra)filtration, the diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) techniques and a thermodynamic chemical equilibrium model. The results showed that As was present mainly in soluble forms in the river water, and the suspended particulate matter (SPM) was identified the major carrier for Cr.

Cardiac MR imaging and pulmonary MR angiography (MRA) are important clinical tools for the assessment of pulmonary vascular diseases. There are evolving noncontrast and contrast-enhanced techniques to evaluate pulmonary vasculature. Pulmonary MRA is a feasible imaging alternative to CTA in pulmonary embolism detection.
