In the title complex, [Mo(C16H13N3O2)O2(CH3OH)], the deprotonated Schiff base (E)-N'-[(Z)-4-oxido-4-phenyl-but-3-en-2-yl-idene]isonicotinohydrazide coordinates in a meridional fashion through the enolate O-, imine N- and amidate O-atom donors to the Mo atom of a cis-[MoO2](2+) core. The sixth coordination site of molybdenum is occupied by the O atom of a methanol mol-ecule. In this complex, the NO5 coordination sphere adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The metal atom is shifted by 0.335 (1) Å from the square plane defined by the three donor atoms of the Schiff base ligand and one oxide group towards the second oxide group in the cis position. In the crystal, the complex forms inversion dimers through a pair of O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the methanol -OH group and the pyridine N atom. Additional C-H⋯O contacts stack the mol-ecules along the b axis.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are essential organelles used to store lipids and participate in cellular lipid metabolism. Imaging LDs is an intuitive approach to comprehend their biological functions. Herein, the LDs-targeted CDs (LD-CDs) featuring robust solvatochromic emission were elaborately designed by a Schiff base reaction using 1, 2-diamino-4-fluorobenzene, 3-dimethylaminophenol, and thiourea as precursors.

Two Gd(III) complexes [GdL(HO)(NO)(CHOH)(CHCHOH)] (Gd1) and [Gd(OOCCH)L(HO)]•2(HO) (Gd2) (HL = 2-pyridylcarboxaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone) were synthesized with a Schiff base ligand. Crystallographic study reveals both Gd1 and Gd2 have a zero-dimensional mononuclear or binuclear structure. Magnetic investigations demonstrate that Gd1 and Gd2 exhibit potential magnetocaloric effects due to Gd(III) ions, which provide negligible magnetic anisotropy, and possess low-lying excited spin states.

Potency and quantitative risk assessment are essential for determining safe concentrations for the formulation of potential skin sensitizers into consumer products. Several new approach methodologies (NAMs) for skin sensitization hazard assessment have been developed, validated, and adopted in OECD test guidelines. However, work is ongoing to develop NAMs for predicting skin sensitization potency on a quantitative scale for use as a point of departure (POD) in next-generation risk assessment (NGRA).

In the present study, biopolymeric Schiff base (SB) ligands were synthesized from chitosan and isatin. Consequently, their earth abundant transition metal complexes of cobalt and copper were synthesized. All compounds were extensively characterized using FTIR and UV spectroscopy, thermo-gravimetric (TG) analysis, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and FESEM (field emission scanning electron microscopy).

The healing of bacteria-infected wounds has long posed a significant clinical challenge. Traditional hydrogel wound dressings often lack self-healing properties and effective antibacterial characteristics, making wound healing difficult. In this study, a bioactive small molecule cross-linking agent 4-FPBA/Lys/4-FPBA (FLF) composed of 4-formylphenylboronic acid (4-FPBA) and lysine (Lys) was utilized to cross-link guar gum (GG) and a tannic acid/iron (TA/Fe) chelate through multiple dynamic bonds, leading to the formation of a novel self-healing hydrogel dressing GG-FLF/TA/Fe.
