We focus on a new kind of vector optical field with bipolar symmetry of linear polarization instead of cylindrical and elliptical symmetries, enriching members of family of vector optical fields. We design theoretically and generate experimentally the demanded vector optical fields and then explore some novel tightly focusing properties. The geometric configurations of states of polarization provide additional degrees of freedom assisting in engineering the field distribution at the focus to the specific applications such as lithography, optical trapping, and material processing.

Splice-switching oligonucleotides (SSOs) can restore protein functionality in pathologies and are promising tools for manipulating the RNA-splicing machinery. Delivery vectors can considerably improve SSO functionality in vivo and allow dose reduction, thereby addressing the challenges of RNA-targeted therapeutics. Here, we report a biocompatible SSO nanocarrier, based on redox-responsive disulfide cross-linked low-molecular-weight linear polyethylenimine (cLPEI), for overcoming multiple biological barriers from subcellular compartments to en-route serum stability and finally in vivo delivery challenges.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the role of SIRT4 in retinal protection, specifically its ability to mitigate excitotoxic damage to Müller glial cells through the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics and glutamate transporters (GLASTs).
Methods: A model of retinal excitatory neurotoxicity was established in mice. Proteins related to mitochondrial dynamics, GLAST, and SIRT4 were analyzed on days 0, 1, 3, and 5 following toxic injury.

We study properties of a light field at the tight focus of the superposition of two different-order cylindrical vector beams (CVBs). In the source plane, this superposition has a polarization singularity index amounting to the half-sum of the numbers of two constituent CVBs, while having neither spin angular momentum (SAM) nor transverse energy flow. We show that if the constituent CVBs have different-parity numbers, in the focal plane there occur areas that have opposite-sign longitudinal SAM projections, alongside areas of opposite-handed energy flows rotating on closed paths (clockwise and anticlockwise).

A three-dimensional (3D) waveguide model is applied in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography simulations. The 3D waveguide model is equivalent to rigorous coupled-wave analysis, but fewer field components are used to solve Maxwell's equations. The 3D waveguide model uses two components of vector potential, and , corresponding to the two polarizations.

Sour rot (SR) is a late-season non-Botrytis rot affecting grapevines, resulting from a complex interplay of microorganisms, including non-Saccharomyces yeasts and acetic acid bacteria. Nonmicrobial factors contributing to disease development encompass vectors (e.g.
