A spirobenzopyran-quinoline (SBPQ) based sensor was synthesized which selectively detects trivalent ions viz. Al(3+), Fe(3+) and Cr(3+) through a fluorescence turn on signal in the red region (~675 nm) with the detection limit in the order of 10(-8) M. The potentiality of the probe was confirmed by employing it for fluorescence bio-imaging with Al(3+) in three different types of live-cells.

Herein, we have used a simple synthetic strategy to access a novel non-sulfur fluorescent molecular probe coumarin and 1,8-napthyridine conjugated probe DNCS. The developed probe has great selectivity and sensitivity for detecting Hg ions. Our photophysical properties evaluation for the synthesized probe with different metal ions (Ba, Al, Ca, Bi, Ce, Cd, Cu, Sr, Co, Fe, Cr, Fe, Mn, Hg, Zn, Pb, Ni, and Sn) unveiled the very selective and sensitive fluorescence sensing behavior with Hg ions in the energy window of near UV and visible light radiation in an organic aqueous solvent mixture (EtOH and water).

Herein, a novel zinc-organic gel with self-catalysis-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance was prepared as an emitter for the first time to assemble a biosensor for ultrasensitive detection of microRNA-221 (miR-221) related to liver cancer. Interestingly, Zn served as a central ion to coordinate with multidentate ligands 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TATB) at room temperature to form Zn-TATB-MOGs with excellent ECL intensity. More importantly, compared to metal ions (e.

Herein, we report a naturally occurring flavonol, quercetagetin 5,6,7,3',4'-pentamethyl ether (known as marionol), as a nontoxic fluorescent probe for rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of Cu in water. The interaction between marionol and Cu ions is studied by various state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques such as H NMR, UV-vis, fluorescence, and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). Marionol shows strong fluorescence quenching in the presence of Cu, whereas other interfering cations such as Fe, Co, Al, Pb, Hg, Zn, Mg, Mn, Ca, Cu, Ag, Na, and K produce negligible changes in fluorescence.

Four salicylidene-based dual-responsive chemosensors 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R1), 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R2), 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R3) and 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R4) were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures of R1 and R3 were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, which crystallized in the orthorhombic and monoclinic 2/ space groups, respectively. The chemosensor molecules were investigated for their recognition properties against the selected cations (K, Ca, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Fe and Al) and anions (F, Cl, Br, I, HSO, HPO, ClO, N and NO) by colorimetry, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, H NMR spectroscopy and theoretical studies.
