For a systematic approach to improve the reliability and the white light quality of phosphor converted light-emitting diodes (LEDs) it is imperative to gain a better understanding of the individual parameters that affect color temperature constancy and maintenance. By means of a combined optical and thermal simulation procedure, in this contribution we give a comprehensive discussion on the impact of different current driving schemes on the thermal load of the color conversion elements (CCEs) of phosphor converted LEDs. We show that on the one hand a decreasing duty cycle under pulse width modulation driving conditions may cause a notable temperature variation and on the other hand also effects due to the non-linearity between the blue radiant flux and the current have to be considered for the thermal load of the CCEs.

Purpose: To investigate how varying ferrule heights and the number of glass fiber posts affect fracture resistance and behavior of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars with substantial loss of tooth structure.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-four extracted endodontically treated human maxillary first premolars were divided into three groups (n = 8) based on ferrule height and post number. The groups were as follows: premolars of 2 mm ferrule height that were restored with single posts (control group), premolars of 0.

Transition state theoretical modelling of molecular diffusion within the narrow pores of brewsterite zeolite.

Context: Based on the transition state theory, a molecular diffusion model in the narrow channels of Brewsterite zeolite was established. In this model, the molecular interaction at the potential barrier was simplified to only consider the repulsive potential, so that the analytical relationship between the diffusion coefficient and the temperature and the Lennard-Jones interaction parameter was derived. We used the molecular dynamics method to simulate the diffusion of four molecules, CF, CH, Ar, and Ne, in Brewsterite zeolite and evaluated the rationality of the model.

Hydrogen-assisted (HA) fatigue crack growth (FCG) occurs in ferritic steels, wherein H-dislocation interaction plays a vital role. We aim to model the HAFCG mechanism based on the within the crack tip zone. Our modeling framework is as follows: H is condensed into crack tip and trapped by dislocations; these H significantly decrease dislocation mobility; stress relief via crack blunting is suppressed; localized brittle fracture triggers HAFCG.

Mechanosensitive stacking structure with continuous solar controllability for real-time thermal management.

Adaptive control of solar light based on an optical switching strategy is essential to tune thermal gain, while real-time solar regulation and hence on-demand thermal management coupled with dynamic conditions still faces a formidable challenge. Herein, we develop a stacking structure which is mechanosensitive and can be finely tuned depending on the dynamic cavitation effect. Specifically, the stacking structure transfers from a solid monolith state to porous layered state progressively under mechanical stretching, and the resulting porous layered state gradually goes back to the solid monolith state once the load is released.

Epoxy resins have exhibited exceptional performance in engineering applications, particularly as a replacement for traditional mechanical joints in adhesive bonding. This study evaluates the suitability of two innovative adhesives, SikaPower-1511 and SikaPower-1548, in various graded configurations. The thermal curing behavior of the adhesives was analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
