Distance dependent singlet and triplet metal-enhanced emission of eosin from silica coated silver island films (SiFs) has been studied by steady-state and time resolved fluorescence techniques, along with theoretical finite difference time domain (FDTD) numerical simulations, to understand how the thickness of the dielectric coating surrounding silver nanoparticles fundamentally affects luminescence enhancement. Our findings suggest that the distance dependence of metal-enhanced phenomena such as fluorescence, phosphorescence and delayed fluorescence is underpinned by the decay of the electric near-field, and depending on the actual silver silica sample embodiment, one can see either decreased or enhanced luminescence. These results not only expand our current MEF thinking but also suggest that one may well be able to approximate plasmon-enhanced luminescence values.

Because of their resilience, Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras are now essential components in scientific and industrial settings. This paper outlines the essential factors for modeling 3D ToF cameras, with specific emphasis on analyzing the phenomenon known as "wiggling". Through our investigation, we demonstrate that wiggling not only causes systematic errors in distance measurements, but also introduces periodic fluctuations in statistical measurement uncertainty, which compounds the dependence on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Due to its non-contact characteristics, remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) has attracted widespread attention in recent years, and has been widely applied for remote physiological measurements. However, most of the existing rPPG models are unable to estimate multiple physiological signals simultaneously, and the performance of the limited available multi-task models is also restricted due to their single-model architectures. To address the above problems, this study proposes MultiPhys, adopting a heterogeneous network fusion approach for its development.

Photoplethysmography is a widely used optical technique to extract physiological information non-invasively. Despite its large use and adoption, multiple factors influence the signal shape and quality, including the instrumentation used. This work analyzes the variability of the DC component of the PPG signal at three source-detector distances (6 mm, 9 mm, and 12 mm) using green, red, and infrared light and four photodiodes per distance.

Dynamic digital radiography (DDR) is a recent imaging technique that allows for real-time visualization of thoracic and pulmonary movement in synchronization with the breathing cycle, providing useful clinical information. A 46-year-old male, a former smoker, was evaluated for unexplained dyspnea and reduced exercise tolerance. His medical history included a SARS-CoV-2 infection in 2021.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of a cardiac rehabilitation (CR) program on functional capacity in patients with heart failure at a high-complexity hospital in the city of Cali during the period from 2017 to 2023.
Methods: A retrospective descriptive study that included 127 patients over 18 years of age diagnosed with heart failure, who completed 36 rehabilitation sessions with complete records of the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), anthropometric and physiological measurements at the beginning and end of the program. Categorical variables were summarized as absolute frequencies and percentages.
