An infinite one-dimensional cadmium metal-organic chain, namely catena-poly[aquabis(μ3-2,2'-{[1,2-phenylenebis(methylene)]bis(sulfanediyl)}dibenzoato)dicadmium(II)], [Cd2(C22H16O4S2)2(H2O)]n, was synthesized by solvothermal reaction of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O and 2,2'-{[1,2-phenylenebis(methylene)]bis(sulfanediyl)}dibenzoic acid (H2L). The Cd(II) centres have six-coordinate CdS2O4 and CdSO5 geometries. Due to the flexible -CH2-S- arms, the L(2-) ligand adopts both syn and anti conformations. Four Cd(II) cations are linked by two syn L(2-) ligands to form a centrosymmetric planar tetranuclear Cd(II) core, which is further extended through bonding to the anti L(2-) ligands to form a one-dimensional metal-organic chain. Adjacent one-dimensional chains are connected by C-H···π interactions and nonclassical C-H···O hydrogen bonds to form the resultant three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

Arsenic contamination of water endangers the health of millions of people worldwide, affecting certain countries and regions with especial severity. Interest in the use of Fe-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) to remove inorganic arsenic species has increased due to their stability and adsorptive properties. In this study, the performance of a synthesized Nano-{Fe-BTC} MOF, containing iron oxide octahedral chains connected by trimesic acid linkers, in adsorbing As(III) and As(V) species was investigated and compared with commercial BasoliteF300 MOF.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been gaining significant attention due to their potential application in medicine. Here, we investigated the effect of zeolite imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) on neuro-behavioral parameters, histopathology, inflammation, and oxidative stress levels of rats' brain samples. Forty-eight male Wistar rats were injected by four injections of saline or ZIF-8 at different doses of 5, 10, or 20 mg/kg via the caudal vein.

The rapid, sensitive and reliable detection of oral cancer overexpressed 1 (ORAOV 1) is crucial for the early, non-invasive diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Herein, we are the first to construct an ultrasensitive electrochemical (EC) biosensor based on an entropy-driven "two-way signal output" (TWSO) cyclic circuit for salivary ORAOV 1 detection. This innovative TWSO cyclic circuit can skillfully convert by-products into desired signal-generating units, not only reducing the excessive accumulation of by-products but also improving the utilization efficiency of output chains, thereby achieving rapid reaction kinetics and high signal outputs.

Photoexcited Electro-Driven Reactive Oxygen Species Channeling for Precise Extraction of Biomarker Information from Tumor Interstitial Fluid.

Direct electrochemical detection of miRNA biomarkers in tumor tissue interstitial fluid (TIF) holds great promise for adjuvant therapy for tumors in the perioperative period, yet is limited by background interference and weak signal. Herein, a wash-free and separation-free miRNA biosensor based on photoexcited electro-driven reactive oxygen channeling analysis (LEOCA) is developed to solve the high-fidelity detection in physiological samples. In the presence of miRNA, nanoacceptors (ultrasmall-size polydopamine, uPDA) are responsively assembled on the surface of nanodonors (zirconium metal-organic framework, ZrMOF) to form core-satellite aggregates.

A new twofold interpenetrated 3D metal-organic framework (MOF), namely, poly[[μ-aqua-diaqua{μ-2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetato}barium(II)] dihydrate], {[Ba(CHNO)(HO)]·2HO}, (I), has been assembled through a combination of the reaction of 2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetic acid (TPBA, HL) with barium hydroxide and crystallization at low temperature. In the crystal structure of (I), the nine-coordinated Ba ions are bridged by two μ-aqua ligands and two carboxylate μ-O atoms to form a 1D loop-like Ba-O chain, which, together with the other two coordinated water molecules and μ-carboxylate groups, produces a rod-like secondary building unit (SBU). The resultant 1D polynuclear SBUs are further extended into a 3D MOF via the terephthalamide moiety of the ligand as a spacer.
