The routine use of systemic antimicrobial agents for preventing surgical site infections lacks strong evidence and may increase the risk of drug-resistant bacteria and adverse events. Lateral lumbar interbody fusion(LLIF), including extreme lateral interbody fusion(XLIF) and oblique lateral interbody fusion(OLIF), constitute a treatment option for many lumbar disorders that predominantly cause degenerative disc disease. LLIF is beneficial for managing conditions, such as lumbar spondylolisthesis, degenerative disc disease, and adult spinal deformities. LLIF is preferred for enabling indirect decompression of the spinal canal and nerve root foramen, without inducing immediate postoperative damage to the peri-vertebral tissues.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of fibrin glue in preventing early recurrence of vitreous haemorrhage following surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).
Design: Single masked randomized-controlled clinical trial SUBJECTS: Consecutive patients with vitreous haemorrhage due to PDR undergoing primary vitreoretinal surgery were screened. After completing all vitreoretinal manoeuvres including endo-cautery to bleeders, infusion pressure was gradually reduced to 5 mmHg.
