The relationship between immune reconstitution and the prognosis after cord blood transplantation is unclear. We investigated the influence of natural killer (NK) cell recovery on transplant outcomes. The maximum number of CD56+CD3- cells or CD57+CD16+ cells was determined to assess NK recovery. Although the high CD56+CD3- group and high CD57+CD16+ group showed significantly better overall survival (OS) than the low group on univariate analysis, the high CD57+CD16+ group was associated with better OS on multivariate analysis. These results suggest that CD57+CD16+ cell recovery is more closely related to the outcome after CBT than CD56+CD3- cell recovery.

Background: A 73-year-old female with a 3 year history of Alzheimer's disease was treated within the protocol of The Alzheimer's Autism and Cognitive Impairment Stem Cell Treatment Study (ACIST), an IRB approved clinical study registered with clinicaltrials.gov NCT03724136.
Method: The procedure consists of bone marrow aspiration, cell separation using an FDA cleared class 2 device, and intravenous and intranasal administration of the stem cell fraction.

Objective: To develop a model for preoperatively predicting postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock (PCCS) in patients with poor left ventricular (LV) function undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: From the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Adult Cardiac Database, 11,493 patients with LV ejection fraction ≤35% underwent isolated on-pump surgery from 2018 through 2019, of whom 3428 experienced PCCS. In total, 68 preoperative clinical variables were considered in machine-learning algorithms trained and optimized using scikit-learn software.

The stability of perovskite quantum dot solar cells is one of the key challenges of this technology. This study reveals the unique degradation behavior of cesium lead triiodide (CsPbI) quantum dot solar cells. For the first time, it is shown that the oxygen-induced degradation and performance loss of CsPbI quantum dot photovoltaic devices can be reversed by exposing the degraded samples to humidity, allowing the performance to recover and even surpass the initial performance.

β-Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), as the precursor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), plays an important role in enhancing NAD levels. Intake of NMN can alter the composition and vitality of gut microbiota, restore mitochondrial function, inhibit inflammatory pathways, improve metabolism, counteract oxidative stress, and alleviate inflammation. NMN significantly improves recovery from aging-related diseases, such as diminished heart function, reduced fertility, memory decline, and diabetes.

Introduction: Motor recovery following nerve injury is dependent on time required for muscle reinnervation. This process is imperfect, however, and recovery is often incomplete. At the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), macrophage signaling aids muscle reinnervation.
