Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and clinical outcomes of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) for treating iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome with a glaucoma drainage device (GDD).
Methods: In this retrospective, interventional case series, data of ICE eyes with a GDD treated with DMEK were collected at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center. A total of 24 patients (24 eyes) with mild-to-moderate ocular anterior segment anomalies together with good intraocular pressure (IOP) control preoperatively were included between March 10, 2014, and November 11, 2021.

Introduction: Patients undergoing revision total hip surgery (RTHS) have a high prevalence of mild and moderate preoperative anemia, associated with adverse outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of perioperative allogeneic blood transfusions (ABT) and postoperative complications in preoperatively mild compared to moderate anemic patients undergoing RTHS who did not receive a diagnostic anemia workup and treatment before surgery.
Methods: We included 1,765 patients between 2007 and 2019 at a university hospital.

Objective: To analyze the recurrence and metastasis patterns and prognosis after complete resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma.
Methods: The clinical postoperative follow-up data and results of patients who underwent complete resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma from September 10, 2014, to September 8, 2021, at Hebei Medical University hospital were collected retrospectively.
Results: A total of 60 patients with complete resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma, including 33 cases of retroperitoneal liposarcoma recurrence, 2 cases of liver metastasis, and 1 case of lung metastasis, were included.

Background: Patients with moderate and severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) are admitted to general hospitals (GHs) without neurosurgical services, but few studies have addressed the management of these patients. This study aimed to describe these patients, the rate of and reasons for managing patients entirely at the GH, and differences between patients managed entirely at the GH (GH group) and patients transferred to the regional trauma centre (RTC group). We specifically examined the characteristics of elderly patients.

Urban intensification has taken a serious toll on the groundwater reserves which is one of the primary sources of fresh water on earth. Exploitation of groundwater has exponentially increased over time, especially in urban landscapes, with ever increasing demands to cater the growing population and development processes. This emphasizes on the importance of proper monitoring of the groundwater variations, which is a difficult process for not being directly accessible for physical measurements.
