We proceed for the first time to the evaluation of the Born cross section for J / ψ + η(c) production, namely, via g + g → J/ψ+ η(c) + g, and show that it has a harder P(T) spectrum than the J/ψ-pair yield at the Born level. If one stuck to a comparison at the Born level, one would conclude that J / ψ + η(c) production would surpass that of J / ψ + J / ψ at large P(T). This is nonetheless not the case since J / ψ-pair production, as for single J / ψ, receives leading-P(T) contributions at higher orders in α(s). We also present the first evaluation of these leading-P(T) next-to-leading order contributions. These are indeed significant for increasing P(T) and are of essential relevance for comparison with forthcoming data. We also compute kinematic correlations relevant for double-parton-scattering studies. Finally, we evaluate the polarization of a J/ψ accompanied by either an η(c) or a J/ψ and another light parton. These results may be of great help to understand the polarization of quarkonia produced at high energies.

Leaf senescence is the final stage of plant growth and development, characterized by chlorophyll degradation, organelle disintegration, and nutrient redistribution and utilization. This stage involves a complex and precise regulatory network, and the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.

Accumulation of β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) induces neurotoxicity, which is the primary risk factor in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP) by the β- (BACE) and γ- (PS1, PS2) secretases is a critical step in the amyloidogenic pathway. The induction of neuronal apoptosis by Aβ involves increased expression of B-cell lymphoma protein 2 (Bcl-2)-associated X (Bax) and decreased Bcl-2 expression.

Significance: Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM) is a new, developing computational imaging technology. It can realize the quantitative phase imaging of a wide field of view and high-resolution (HR) simultaneously by means of multi-angle illumination via a light emitting diode (LED) array, combined with a phase recovery algorithm and the synthetic aperture principle. However, in the FPM reconstruction process, LED position misalignment affects the quality of the reconstructed image, and the reconstruction efficiency of the existing LED position correction algorithms needs to be improved.

Human insulin () gene diverged from the ancestral genes of invertebrate and mammalian species millions of years ago. We previously found that mouse insulin gene () isoforms are expressed in brain choroid plexus (ChP) epithelium cells, where insulin secretion is regulated by serotonin and not by glucose. We further compared human isoform expression in postmortem ChP and islets of Langerhans.

Background: There is an urgent unmet need for new therapies in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In a clinical study with healthy volunteers, levosimendan, a calcium sensitiser, was shown to improve neuromechanical efficiency and contractile function of the human diaphragm. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of oral levosimendan in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, with a focus on respiratory function.
