The era of the real time low mechanical index (MI) contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) began in 2004. Since then, CEUS with second generation contrast agents like SonoVue has been able to offer a new clinical utility both in diagnosis and in interventional therapies. Intracavitary administration of SonoVue is an off-label, extravascular application of CEUS. There are two distinct applications in gastroenterology that are currently emerging: contrast agent injection into physiological cavities and injection into non-physiological cavities and fistulas. Numerous reports on the extravascular or intracavitary administration of SonoVue have been published and the results are positive, even though larger prospective studies are still lacking.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the deadliest malignant tumor, with a grim 5-year overall survival rate of about 12%. As its incidence and mortality rates rise, it is likely to become the second-leading cause of cancer-related death. The radiological assessment determined the stage and management of PDAC.

Background: We sought to comprehensively describe drug-related components associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), describing the incidence of drug-related AKI, the proportion of preventable AKI, identified the various drugs potentially associated with it, explored the risk factors, and assessed the 1-year incidences of the recurrence of drug-related AKI, kidney failure, and death.
Methods: CKD-REIN is a French national prospective cohort of 3033 nephrology outpatients with a confirmed diagnosis of CKD (eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m²).

The advancement of safe nanomaterials for use as optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and stem cell-labeling agents to longitudinally visually track therapeutic derived retinal stem cells to study their migration, survival rate, and efficacy is challenged by instability, intracellular aggregation, low uptake, and cytotoxicity. Here, we describe a series of hybrid lipid-coated gold nanorods (AuNRs) that could solve these issues. These nanomaterials were made via a layer-by-layer assembly approach, and their stability in biological media, mechanism, efficiency of uptake, and toxicity were compared with a commercially available set of AuNRs with a 5 nm mesoporous silica (mSiO)-polymer coating.

Background: Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) is a robust prognostic biomarker in patients with cardiovascular (CV) disease, and a better understanding of its clinical determinants is desirable. We aimed to study the associations between GDF-15 levels and in outpatients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD).
Methods: An explorative cross-sectional study (Study of Atherosclerosis in Vastmanland, Västerås, Sweden) included 439 outpatients with carotid or lower extremity PAD.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of ultrafast dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI using a compressed sensing (CS) technique for differentiating benign and malignant soft-tissue tumors (STTs) and to evaluate the factors related to the grading of malignant STTs.
Materials And Methods: A total of 165 patients (96 male; mean age, 61 years), comprising 111 with malignant STTs and 54 with benign STTs according to the 2020 WHO classification, underwent DCE-MRI with CS between June 2018 and June 2023. The clinical, qualitative, and quantitative parameters associated with conventional MRI were also obtained.
