In this contribution, the photoluminescence, time-resolved luminescence and luminescence kinetics of α'-Sr2SiO4:Eu(2+) are studied. The luminescence of Sr2SiO4:Eu(2+) consists of two broad bands, peaked at 490 nm (blue-green) and 570 nm (yellow-orange), which originate from two luminescence centers, related to Eu(2+) in ten-coordinated SI and nine-coordinated SII sites, respectively. Based on spectroscopic data the energetic structure of Sr2SiO4:Eu(2+) has been developed, which includes the bands edges, energies of Eu(2+) in the SI and SII sites and energies of strontium and oxygen vacancies. To investigate the long-lasting luminescence phenomenon in Sr2SiO4:Eu(2+) the temperature influence on the time evolution of luminescence was analyzed. It has been found that the long-lasting luminescence is related to the Eu(2+) in SII site. The shallowest traps responsible for emission decaying within a few seconds are tentatively attributed to the [Eu(3+)(SII)-[Formula: see text]] centers. The depth of traps responsible for the long-lasting luminescence observed at room temperature has been estimated as equal 0.73 eV.

There is an emerging quest for fabrication of water-soluble fluorescent silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) with long-lasting fluorescent properties and dimensional stability while being sustainable and functional. Thus, a well-known seed-mediated growth strategy has been developed to manufacture AgNCs supported onto carboxyl and aldehyde modified cellulose nanofiber (DATCNF) with ultra-small and intense fluorescence. The DATCNF acts as a reductant, template, and stabilizer while the protective ligand, 2-Mercaptonicotinic Acid (2-HMA), provides AgNCs with luminous characteristic and constrained size of 4.

Near-infrared (NIR) chemiluminescent probes have attracted increasing attention in recent years due to their attractive properties for imaging. Herein, we developed a NIR chemiluminophore silicon rhodamine (SiRCL-1) based on the intramolecular energy transfer process from excited state benzoate to a silicon rhodamine emitter under aqueous conditions. SiRCL-1 exhibited dual emission peaks at 540 nm and 680 nm with a high signal penetration through tissue at 680 nm (>30 mm) and long-lasting luminescence (>50 min), demonstrating its significance as a chemiluminescence scaffold for biological application.

Long-lasting afterglow luminescence imaging that detects photons slowly being released from chemical defects has emerged, eliminating the need for real-time photoexcitation and enabling autofluorescence-free imaging with high signal-to-background ratios (SBRs). Organic afterglow nano-systems are notable for their tunability and design versatility. However, challenges such as unsatisfactory afterglow intensity, short emission wavelengths, limited activatable strategies, and shallow tissue penetration depth hinder their widespread biomedical applications and clinical translation.

Copper-Cobalt Nanozyme Mimicking Laccase for Sensitive Colorimetric Determination of Cannabidiol in Food and Cosmetics.

In colorimetric analysis, nanozymes are invaluable tools due to their simple production, long-lasting stability, and adaptable enzymatic activity, which enable them to induce changes in substrate color. In this study, a simple nanozyme-based colorimetric sensor was developed to detect cannabidiol (CBD) by using the laccase activity of the self-made MOF with copper and cobalt loading (Cu/Co@MOF) nanozyme, which was synthesized using a one-pot microwave method. The Cu/Co@MOF has the ability to catalyze the coupling reaction between 4-AP and various phenolic substrates, thereby converting colorless phenolic substrates into red substances.

Ultralong room-temperature phosphorescent (URTP) materials have garnered significant attention in anti-counterfeiting, optoelectronic displays, and bio-imaging due to their unique optical properties. However, most URTP materials exhibit weak emission or are quenched in aqueous solutions. This study proposes a simple and effective strategy for preparing full-color aqueous URTP materials using a one-step microwave method.
