Analytical derivatization either in pre or post column modes is one of the most widely used sample pretreatment techniques coupled to liquid chromatography. In the present review article we selected to discuss the post column derivatization mode for the analysis of organic compounds. The first part of the review focuses to the instrumentation of post-column setups including not only fundamental components such as pumps and reactors but also less common parts such as static mixers and back-pressure regulators; the second part of the article discusses the most popular "chemistries" that are involved in post column applications, including reagent-less approaches and new sensing platforms such as the popular gold nanoparticles. Some representative recent applications are also presented as tables.

Before patients begin out-of-bed exercises following internal fixation surgery for acetabular fractures, turning over in bed serves as a crucial intervention to mitigate complications associated with prolonged bed rest. However, data on the safety of this maneuver post-surgery are limited, and the biomechanical evidence remains unclear. This study aims to introduce a novel loading protocol designed to preliminarily simulate the action of turning over in bed and to compare the biomechanical properties of two fixation methods for acetabular fractures under this new protocol.

Background: Chemical derivatization is a common technique in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics used to improve the ionizability and chromatographic properties of metabolites in complex biological samples. This process facilitates better detection and separation of a wide array of compounds. The reagent 2-(4-boronobenzyl) isoquinolin-2-ium bromide (BBII), developed as a glucose labeling reagent for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization MS, enhances ionization for glucose and other hydroxyl metabolites.

When underground tunnels in coal mines traverse geological structurally abnormal zones (faults, collapse columns, fractured zones, etc.), excavation-induced unloading leads to instability and failure of the engineering rock mass. Rock masses in fractured zones are in elastic, plastic, and post-peak stress states, and the process of excavation through these zones essentially involves unloading under full stress paths.

Background: Low back pain affects over 80 % of adults, with sacroiliac joint dysfunction accounting for 15-30 % of these cases. Sacroiliac fusion is a surgical procedure for refractory joint pain. While the biomechanics of the joint and its fusion relative to the spinal column are well-known, the hip-spine relationship post-fusion remains unclear.

Purpose: To ascertain the homing of monocytes and neutrophils in the epithelium versus stroma of HSV-1 infected corneas at different stages of infection and functional significance of their anatomical location in virus-infected corneas.
Methods: The corneas of C57BL/6J mice were infected with HSV-1 McKrae. Mice were euthanized on different days post-infection.
