From extraction experiments and g-activity measurements, the extraction constants corresponding to the general equilibrium Cs+(aq) + A- (aq) <-> Cs+(org) + A- (org) taking place in the two-phase water-phenyltrifluoromethyl sulfone (FS 13) system (A-= I-, ClO4-, MnO4-, Br-3, I-3, picrate, tetraphenylborate (BPh-4); aq = aqueous phase, org = FS 13 phase) were evaluated. Furthermore, the individual extraction constants of these 7 anions in the mentioned two-phase system were calculated; they were found to increase in the series of I-< ClO4- < Br-3 < MnO4-, picrate < I-3 < BPh-4.

Heparin concentration c in a blood extracorporeal circulation has been real-timely predicted based on the relaxation strength Δε at relaxation frequency f extracted by relaxation time distribution (RTD). The simulated extracorporeal circulation was conducted to optimize the number of Δε for the prediction of c using the porcine whole blood (WB) and low-leukocyte and -platelet blood (LLPB) under the condition of the gradual increment of c from 0 to 8 U/mL with constant flow rate and blood temperature. The experimental results show that among the three relaxation strengths Δε, Δε and Δε (in ascending order of frequency), Δε at f = 5.

Recycling waste salt in the dry reprocessing of nuclear fuel and reducing electric energy consumption in the electrorefining process are crucial steps toward addressing significant challenges in this field. The present study proposes a novel approach to purify waste salt by selectively adsorbing excessive fission products using 5A molecular sieves (5A), based on the principles of electrorefining, with the ultimate aim of achieving sustainable development in nuclear fuel. First, Lutetium (Lu)-Bi alloy was synthesized through constant potential electrolysis in the LiCl-KCl-LuCl melt, resulting in a 90.

In maximally Ca-activated demembranated fibres from the mammalian skeletal muscle, the depression of the force by lowering the temperature below the physiological level (~35 °C) is explained by the reduction of force in the myosin motor. Instead, cooling is reported to not affect the force per motor in Ca-activated cardiac trabeculae from the rat ventricle. Here, the mechanism of the cardiac performance depression by cooling is reinvestigated with fast sarcomere-level mechanics.

Thermal Characteristics and Kinetics of the Thermal Degradation of Sugar Beet Waste Leaves and Pulp in Relation to Chemical Composition.

January 2025

Department of Food Engineering, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, Pierotti Street 6, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia.

Thermal characteristics of dried sugar beet pulp, leaves and leaf fractions obtained after extraction: fibrous leaf pulp and fibre rich leaf fraction, were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The sugar beet samples showed a similar thermal behaviour associated with a similar composition. Two endotherms are found on the differential scanning calorimetry curves.
