Children are a special group since epidemiological evidence indicates that excessive exposure to sunlight at an early age increases the risk of skin cancer in later life. The purpose of this study is to quantify children's UV exposure when skiing, using dosimeters (VioSpor) placed on the shoulders of 10 participants. The children received a median daily Standard Erythema Dose of 2.1 within a range of 4.9-0.71, this being approximately 35% of the calculated 24 h ambient UV radiation on the horizontal plane. According to the results obtained, young skiers are exposed to UV radiation that can potentially cause skin damage and erythema and increase the risk of skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. These findings emphasise the need for adequate protective measures against solar radiation when skiing. The results also suggest that sun-protection campaigns should be undertaken aimed at children engaged in outdoor sports, including winter activities.

High-temperature reduction of TiO causes the gradual formation of structural defects, leading to oxygen vacancy planar defects and giving rise to Magnéli phases, which are substoichiometric titanium oxides that follow the formula Ti O, with 4 ≤ ≤ 9. A high concentration of defects provides several possible configurations for Ti and Ti within the crystal, with the variation in charge ordered states changing the electronic structure of the material. The changes in crystal and electronic structures of Magnéli phases introduce unique properties absent in TiO, facilitating their diverse applications.

Flexible perovskite solar cells (FPSCs) have advanced significantly because of their excellent power-per-weight performance and affordable manufacturing costs. The unsatisfactory efficiency and mechanical stability of FPSCs are bottleneck challenges that limit their application. Here, we explore the use of octylammonium acetate (OAAc) with a long, intrinsic, flexible molecular chain on perovskite films for surface adhesion and mechanical releasing.

Halide perovskites are a class of materials with excellent potential for solar cell applications due to their excellent optical and electronic properties. In this study, strain-dependent physical properties of SrNBr perovskites are investigated and theoretical results are reported here. The structural properties indicate that SrNBr has a cubic structure.

Solar-driven photocatalytic technology holds significant potential for addressing energy crisis and mitigating global warming, yet is limited by light absorption, charge separation, and surface reaction kinetics. The past several years has witnessed remarkable progress in optimizing photocatalysis electron spin control. This approach enhances light absorption through energy band tuning, promotes charge separation by spin polarization, and improves surface reaction kinetics strengthening surface interaction and increasing product selectivity.

Realizing fast charging in high-specific-energy lithium metal batteries (LMBs) remains a significant challenge. Here, a oleophilic garnet suspension electrolyte design is reported, using inorganic solid electrolyte modified by low-surface-energy 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl trichlorosilane (PFOTS), to address the dilemma of fast charging and high specific energy in LMBs. With the oleophilic suspension electrolytes, the ionic conductivity of carbonate electrolyte is increased by ≈20%.
