Published: May 2014

Synthetic [2-(13)C]mevalonolactone was fed to the gibberellin producer Fusarium fujikuroi and its incorporation into four known terpenoids was investigated by (13)C NMR analysis of crude culture extracts. The experiments gave detailed insights into the mechanisms of terpene biosynthesis by this fungus.

Characterization of fatty acid desaturase gene family in and their expression patterns in seeds after infection.

Front Plant Sci

February 2025

College of Agronomy and Sichuan Engineering Research Center for Crop Strip Intercropping System, Sichuan Agricultural University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: The family of membrane-bound fatty acid desaturase () genes play a vital role in plant growth, development, and stress responses. The seed-borne pathogen causes seed decay disease during pre-harvest and post-harvest stages of soybean, leading to a significant reduction in yield and quality. Therefore, it is very meaningful to characterize the diversity and function of the gene family in soybean and to elucidate their roles in seed resistance to

Results: In this study, 30 full-length genes were identified from the soybean genome.

Prenylation of flavonoids by DMATS1 and their anti-inflammatory activities.

J Sci Food Agric

February 2025

School of Food Science and Engineering, Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Functional Food of Hainan Province, Collaborative Innovation Center of Nanfan and High-Efficiency Tropical Agriculture, Hainan University, Haikou, People's Republic of China.

Background: Prenylated flavonoids are widely distributed in plants, including fruits and vegetables in the Moraceae and Fabaceae families. These chemicals are potential functional food ingredients owing to their attractive biological activities. However, natural prenylated flavonoids are rare, which limits their application.

is a pathogen belonging to the species complex, isolated from both banana fruits and immunocompromised patients, therefore hypothesized to be a cross-kingdom pathogen. We aimed to characterize infection in plant and animal hosts to prove its cross-kingdom pathogenicity. Therefore, we developed two infection models, one in banana and one in larvae, as a human proxy for the investigation of cross-kingdom pathogenicity of , along with accurate disease indexes effective to differentiate infection degrees in animal and plant hosts.

Ascomycete fungi of the genus Fusarium are found in manifold ecological niches and thus pursue several lifestyles. On average, individual Fusarium species have the genetic capability to produce 50 natural products (NPs), which are in general thought to improve the fungus's fitness in defined environments. This also includes NPs with toxic potential (mycotoxins) contaminating food and feed sources.
