In the title compound, C14H13N3O2·2H2O, the hydrazone mol-ecule adopts an E conformation with respect to the C=N bond. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 8.55 (10)°. The methyl-idene-hydrazide [-C(=O)-N-N=C-] fragment is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.0375 (13) Å. The mean planes of the benzene and pyridine rings make dihedral angles of 2.71 (14) and 11.25 (13)°, respectively, with mean plane of the methyl-idene-hydrazide fragment. In the crystal, the benzohydrazide and water mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Molecular structure characteristic of coals of different rank.

J Mol Model

January 2025

School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing, Haidian District, Ding No.11 Xueyuan Road, Beijing, 100083, People's Republic of China.

Context: Understanding the structural characteristics of coal at the molecular level is fundamental for its effective utilization. To explore the molecular structure characteristic, the long-flame coal from Daliuta (DLT), coking coal from Yaoqiao (YQ), and anthracite from Taixi (TX) were investigated using various techniques such as elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, solid-state C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Based on the structural parameters, the coal molecular model was constructed and optimized.

The emergence of RNA viruses driven by global population growth and international trade highlights the urgent need for effective antiviral agents that can inhibit viral replication. Nucleoside analogs, which mimic natural nucleotides, have shown promise in targeting RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RdRps). Starting from protected 5-iodouridine, we report the synthesis of -substituted-(1,3-diyne)-uridines nucleosides and their phosphoramidate prodrugs.

Metal-organic frameworks generated from oligomeric ligands with functionalized tethers.

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, San Diego La Jolla California 92093 USA

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be prepared from oligomeric organic ligands to prepare materials referred to as oligoMOFs. Studies of oligoMOFs are relatively limited, with most existing reports focused on fundamental structure-property relationships. In this report, functional groups, such as terminal alkynes and pyridine groups, are installed on the tether between 1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid (Hbdc) groups of the dimer ligands.

Taking the natural product cerbinal as the lead compound, 30 novel 5-aryl-cyclopenta[]pyridine derivatives were designed and synthesized based on the previous bioactivity studies of the cyclopenta[]pyridines. The modification of the position-5 of compound was achieved by amination, bromination, and cross coupling using cerbinal as the raw material. The results of the bioactivity tests demonstrated that partial compounds exhibited superior activity against plant viruses compared to compound .

Endowing single-crystal polymers with circularly polarized luminescence.

Nat Commun

Key Laboratory for Photochemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The preparation of single-crystal polymers with circularly polarized luminesce (CPL) remains a challenging task in chemistry and materials science. Herein, we present the single-crystal-to-single-crystal topochemical photopolymerization of a chiral organic salt to achieve this goal. The in-situ reaction of 1,4-bis((E)-2-(pyridin-4-yl)vinyl)benzene (1) with chiral (+)- or (-)-camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) gives the monomer crystal 1[( + )/( - )-CSA] showing yellow CPL with a high luminescent dissymmetry factor |g| of 0.
