Metabolic regulation and oxidative stress attenuation in LPS-stimulated macrophages by flavonoids.

Periodontal disease, prevalent in 20% to 50% of the population, is a chronic multifactorial inflammation caused by a dysbiotic oral biofilm, with gingivitis and periodontitis being the most common forms. Flavonoids, such as myricetin and catechin, have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential, reducing nitric oxide (NO) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages. This study compared the effects of different flavonoids on viability and oxidative response of LPS-stimulated macrophages.

Initiated by bacteria, periodontitis (PD) is a complex, chronic inflammatory disease of the supporting tissue of the gums and teeth. Also linked to PD include human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). PD also raises the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) because it triggers inflammatory reactions throughout the body.

Background And Aims: The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic necessitates a deeper understanding of risk factors associated with severe outcomes. Chronic Periodontitis, a persistent inflammatory condition affecting the gums, may be linked to increased COVID-19 severity. This study aimed to determine the relationship between periodontitis and the severity of lung infection caused by COVID-19.

Plant and animal-derived fusion nanovesicles rescue inflammation-compromised osteogenic potential of periodontal ligament stem cells.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the supporting tissues of the teeth and has emerged as a global public health issue. Current therapies primarily address pathogenic factors and alleviate symptoms, with limited options available for complete restoration and reconstruction of already absorbed periodontal bone tissue. In this study, we developed a nanotherapeutic strategy utilizing fusion nanovesicles (FVs) to modulate the inflammatory microenvironment and create a regenerative niche for periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs), which play a crucial role in periodontal tissue repair.

Periodontal inflammation is a chronic condition affecting the tissues surrounding teeth. Initiated by dental plaque, it triggers an immune response leading to tissue destruction. The AIM-2 inflammasome regulates this response, and understanding its peptide sequences could aid in developing targeted therapeutics.
