Objective: To optimize the extraction conditions of polysaccharide from Moerella iridescens with the microwave-assisted extraction technology by Response surface methodology (RSM).
Methods: Extracting temperature, extracting time and the solvent/solid ratio were selected as factors. The yield of polysaccharide was used as the responsive value. Based on the single factors experiments, a three-factor-three-level experiments design was developed by Box-Benhken central composite design method. The response surface method was employed to analyze the results of experiments.
Results: The optimum extraction conditions of polysaccharide were as follows: extracting temperature was 45 degrees C, extracting time was 2.7 h and solvent/solid ratio was 50:1. The predictive maximum yield of polysaccharide was 1.17%. The average yield of polysaccharide in 3 validation experiments was 1.19% and the relative error was 1.70%.
Conclusion: RSM analysis optimizing the extraction conditions for polysaccharide from Moerella iridescens is feasible, which can improve the extraction rate of Moerella iridescens polysaccharide.

Sodium pentachlorophenol (PCP-Na) is widespread in the marine environment; however, its impact on marine organisms remains under-researched. Moerella iridescens and Exopalaemon carinicauda are marine species of economic importance in China and under threat from PCP-Na pollution. Thus, this study aimed to assess the toxicity and detoxification metabolism of PCP-Na on M.

Many traditional economic marine fishery resources have been declining in the coastal waters of China. has become one of the dominant species in Haizhou Bay and some other coastal areas of China, playing an important role in marine food webs. We analyzed the feeding strategy of based on the bottom trawl surveys conducted in the Haizhou Bay and adjacent waters in spring and autumn of 2011 and 2013-2016.

In this study, the effect of environmental metal exposure on the accumulation and subcellular distribution of metals in the digestive gland of clams with special emphasis on metallothioneins (MTs) was investigated. Specimens of indigenous Moerella iridescens were collected from different natural habitats in Maluan Bay (China), characterized by varying levels of metal contamination. The digestive glands were excised, homogenized and six subcellular fractions were separated by differential centrifugation procedures and analyzed for their Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb contents.

We have sequenced and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome of the soft-shell clam, Mya arenaria, an important organism for environmental toxicology and aquaculture. Mya arenaria is located in the taxonomic order Myoida, which lacks any member with a completely annotated mitogenome. The M.
