Genetic selection for growth rate has often been related with potential negative effects on various reproductive traits across different species. Using rabbit as a model, this study has evaluated for the first time how genetic selection for growth rate has affected feed efficiency, resource allocation, blood traits, reproductive performance and survival during five reproductive cycles in rabbit does. To this end, we used 88 reproductive rabbit females from two vitrified and rederived populations of the same paternal line, differing only in 18 generations of genetic selection for growth rate (n = 44 for R19V and n = 44 for RV37V).

Background/aims: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), a prevalent complication in pregnancy, is characterized by the Diabetes Association as diabetes diagnosed in the second or third trimester, often remaining asymptomatic. This study investigates the intricate effects of Streptozotocin on pregnant rats, unraveling its impact on Gestational Type 2 Diabetes (GTD). The research delves into the potential therapeutic roles of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and olive leaf extract (OLE) in mitigating the consequences of Streptozotocin-induced pancreatic impairment.

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of butaphosphan and cyanocobalamin (BC) on the metabolic profile, oxidative stress in Kashmiri merino ewes and its effect on the prophylaxis of Ovine pregnancy toxemia (PT). A total of 48 ewes were randomly divided into three groups, each consisting of 16 ewes. High dose BC (HBC): Ewes were given 0.

Purpose: There is no standardized best method on monitoring of patients with gestational diabetes on diet modification in the country. This study aims to investigate the optimum method of self-monitoring blood glucose.
Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial in a single tertiary centre involving patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) diagnosed based on NICE guideline on diet modification.

A dysregulated inflammatory response contributes to the occurrence of disorders in cows during the transition period from pregnancy to lactation. However, a detailed characterization of clinically healthy cows that exhibit an enhanced inflammatory response during this critical period remains incomplete. In this experiment, a total of 99 individual transition dairy cows and 109 observations (18 cows monitored in 2 consecutive lactations), submitted to similar transition management were involved to evaluate the relationship between elevated an inflammatory response and metabolic and oxidative status, as well as transition outcomes.
