Published: September 2013

The synthesis of α-imino aldehydes has been achieved through the thermal [1,3]-rearrangement of O-alkenyl benzophenone oximes. A copper-mediated C-O bond coupling between benzophenone oxime and alkenyl boronic acids provides facile access to the required O-alkenyl oximes and a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination can be applied to the α-imino aldehyde products to give γ-imino-α,β-unsaturated esters. The scope of the method is described and mechanistic experiments are discussed.

Continuous cropping obstacle has been becoming the bottleneck for the stable development of morel cultivation. The allelopathic effect of soil allelochemicals may play an instrumental role in the morel soil sickness. In this study, the allelochemicals were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) combined with in vitro bioassay.

Magnetic supported ionic liquids are a unique subclass of ionic liquids that possess the ability to respond to external magnetic fields, combining the advantageous properties of traditional ILs with this magnetic responsiveness. A novel magnetic ionic nanocatalyst of FeO@SiO@CPTMS-DTPA was prepared by anchoring an ionic liquid, CPTMS-DTPA, onto the surface of silica-modified FeO. The morphology, chemical structure and magnetic property of the magnetic ionic nanocatalyst structure was characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, and thermogravimetric analysis.

Spermatogenesis and sperm maturation are complex biological processes that involve intricate cellular and molecular interactions. The Aldh2 gene is involved in the metabolism of specific aldehydes generated by oxidative stress. Aldh2 is abundantly expressed in the testis and epididymis; however, the specific role of Aldh2 in regulating spermatogenesis and sperm maturation remains unclear.

This study presents a new approach for fabricating 3D-printed self-healing hydrogels via light-assisted 3D printing, utilizing Schiff-base and covalent bonding formations resulting from the reaction between amine and aldehyde functional groups alongside the photopolymerization of methacrylate groups. Two distinct polymers, carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs) and dextran, were first modified to yield methacrylate-modified carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs-MA) and oxidized dextran (OD). The structural modifications of these polymers were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques, including H NMR and FTIR analyses.
