Crystal structure of polymeric carbon nitride and the determination of its process-temperature-induced modifications.

Based on the arrangement of two-dimensional 'melon', we construct a unit cell for polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) synthesized via thermal polycondensation, whose theoretical diffraction powder pattern includes all major features measured in x-ray diffraction. With the help of this unit cell, we describe the process-temperature-induced crystallographic changes in PCN that occur within a temperature interval between 510 and 610 °C. We also discuss further potential modifications of the unit cell for PCN. It is found that both triazine- and heptazine-based g-C3N4 can only account for minor phases within the investigated synthesis products.

Insights into incompatible plasmids in multidrug-resistant Raoultella superbugs.

The emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Raoultella isolates is linked to the acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) with plasmids playing a pivotal role in this process. While plasmid-mediated transmission of ARGs in Raoultella has been extensively reported, limited attention has been given to genetically dissecting the modular structures of plasmids. This study aims to elucidate the genomic features of novel incompatible plasmids in MDR Raoultella by presenting 13 complete plasmid sequences from four isolates, along with an analysis of 16 related plasmids from GenBank.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease caused by dengue virus (DENV) infection, which remains a major public health concern worldwide owing to the lack of specific treatments or antiviral drugs available. This study investigated the potential repurposing of domperidone, an antiemetic and gastrokinetic agent, to control DENV infection. Domperidone was identified by pharmacophore-based virtual screening as a small molecule that can bind to both the viral envelope (E) and the nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) of DENV.

Microgrid systems have evolved based on renewable energies including wind, solar, and hydrogen to make the satisfaction of loads far from the main grid more flexible and controllable using both island- and grid-connected modes. Albeit microgrids can gain beneficial results in cost and energy schedules once operating in grid-connected mode, such systems are vulnerable to malicious attacks from the viewpoint of cybersecurity.
