Aim: In our study, we aimed to evaluate left ventricular function in patients with Sjögren syndrome (SS) using tissue Doppler echocardiography (TDE) and myocardial performance index (MPI) in addition to conventional echocardiographic methods.
Methods: We evaluated 50 patients with SS and 48 healthy volunteers with similar demographic characteristics. Systolic and diastolic functions of the left ventricle were analyzed with standard two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography, M-mode echocardiography, pulsed-wave (PW) Doppler and tissue Doppler imaging.
Results: Septal part of the mitral annulus PW TDE showed that systolic myocardial wave (Sm), early diastolic myocardial wave (Em), late diastolic myocardial wave (Am) and Em/Am ratios are significantly lower, and myocardial isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRTm) and MPI values are significantly higher in patients with SS. Lateral site of the mitral annulus PW TDE showed that Em, Sm and Em/Am ratios are significantly lower, and IVRTm and MPI values are significantly higher in patients with SS compared with healthy controls.
Conclusion: In this study, it was shown that both left ventricle systolic and diastolic functions of patients with SS were disturbed.

The present study aims to examine the effect of 4 h of continuous sitting on cerebral endothelial function, which is a crucial component of cerebral blood flow regulation. We hypothesized that 4 h of sitting may impair cerebral endothelial function similarly to how it affects lower limb vasculature. Thirteen young, healthy participants were instructed to remain seated for 4 h without moving their lower limbs.

Background: Testicular torsion (TT) is a urological emergency requiring prompt intervention to prevent irreversible damage to the testicle.
Objective: This study aims to assess trends in men's TT referrals, diagnostic evaluation through Doppler sonography (DS) scan, symptoms before surgery, orchidectomy rates, and TT laterality in relation to age and seasons of the year.
Methods: This observational retrospective cohort study included all patients treated for TT at King Abdullah University Hospital between 2009 and 2021.

Purpose: To investigate fetal cardiac functions and remodeling in pregnancies conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Methods: This prospective case-control study included 40 singleton IVF pregnancies and 46 uncomplicated control pregnancies at 28-36 weeks of gestation. The IVF group consisted of pregnancies applied to the outpatient clinic, excluding those with anatomical or chromosomal abnormalities.

The work is devoted to the study of the physiological variability of the microcirculatory-tissue system (MTS) parameters under normal conditions and during functional tests. The results were obtained in vivo using multimodal wearable analyzers implementing methods of laser Doppler flowmetry and fluorescence spectroscopy. Comprehensive data analysis and calculation of the coefficients of variation of the MTS parameters of the human body for various topographic and anatomical areas of the skin were carried out.

Swine are increasingly utilized in cardiovascular research due to their anatomical and physiological similarities to humans, particularly for studying diastolic dysfunction. While MRI offers excellent structural imaging, echocardiography provides superior real-time assessment of diastolic parameters. To address the lack of standardized methods and reduce variability across studies, we present a comprehensive guide for performing echocardiography in Yorkshire pigs, detailing anatomical considerations, equipment requirements, and technical approaches.
