Background: Diagnosing and predicting neonatal sepsis is challenging because of its nonspecific symptoms, lack of diagnostic criteria consensus, and absence of early, sensitive, and specific diagnostic laboratory tests.
Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic potential of adrenomedullin (ADM), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein (CRP) in late-onset neonatal sepsis (LOS).
Methods: We studied 53 neonates with culture-proven LOS by sampling at admission and on antibiotic treatment days 3 and 7.

Despite the high sepsis-associated mortality, effective and specific treatments remain limited. Using conventional antibiotics as TIENAM (imipenem and cilastatin sodium for injection, TIE) is challenging due to increasing bacterial resistance, diminishing their efficacy and leading to adverse effects. We previously found that aloe-emodin (AE) exerts therapeutic effects on sepsis by reducing systemic inflammation and regulating the gut microbiota.

Objective: Intra-abdominal candidiasis (IAC) is difficult to predict in elderly septic patients with intra-abdominal infection (IAI). This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram based on lymphocyte subtyping and clinical factors for the early and rapid prediction of IAC in elderly septic patients.
Methods: A prospective cohort study of 284 consecutive elderly patients diagnosed with sepsis and IAI was performed.

Introduction: Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy is a common complication of sepsis and is associated with higher mortality. To date, effective diagnostic and management strategies are still lacking. Recent studies suggest that ferroptosis plays a critical role in sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy and ferroptosis inhibitor Ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) improved cardiac dysfunction and survival in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced endotoxemia.

Background: Due to its potent antibacterial activity, vancomycin is widely used in the treatment of sepsis. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) can optimize personalized vancomycin dosing regimens, enhancing therapeutic efficacy and minimizing nephrotoxic risk, thereby potentially improving patient outcomes. However, it remains uncertain whether TDM affects the mortality rate among sepsis patients or whether age plays a role in this outcome.
