New complexes of manganese(II) corresponding to [{(ArO)2PS2}2Mn] and [{(ArO)2PS2}2Mn.nL] (Ar = o-, m-, p-CH3C6H4 and p-Cl-m-CH3C6H3; n = 1, L = N2C12H8, N2C10H8; n = 2, L = NC5H5, P(C6H5)3) have been synthesized and characterized by microelemental analyses (C, H, and N), magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, thermogravimetric, cyclic voltammetry, and spectral analyses including ESI mass spectrometry, IR, and UV-visible. The presence of a four-and-six coordinated Mn atoms has been established in the complexes and adducts, respectively. Antimicrobial screening of the complexes against gram negative bacteria E. coli, K. pneumonia, and P. aeruginosa and fungus S. rolfsii has shown potential bioactivity.

Highly energetic boron (B) particles embedded in hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) thermosetting polymers represent stable solid-state fuel. Laser-heating of levitated B/HTPB and pure HTPB particles in a controlled atmosphere revealed spontaneous ignition of B/HTPB in air, allowing for examination of the exclusive roles of boron. These ignition events are probed via simultaneous spectroscopic diagnostics: Raman and infrared spectroscopy, temporally resolved high-speed optical and infrared cameras, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy.

This research is focused on the formulation and testing of green visual pH-sensitive indicators based on natural extracts from Curcuma Longa (CUR) and Lambrusco wine pomace (LAM), an Italian wine variety, incorporated into rice starch/pectin/alginate matrixes for non-destructively detecting shrimps freshness in real-time. The effect of the mixed indicators and their synergic combination on the properties and performances of indicators was investigated. Both the extract and their combination showed pronounced pH responsiveness.

A bis(triarylamine) (BTA) radical cation, bridged by two o-terphenylene moieties, was prepared and characterized to explore the impact of the double-π-bridge on the intramolecular charge/spin transfer process in the 2-site organic mixed-valence (MV) compound. Spectroscopic analyses on optically and thermally assisted intervalence charge-transfer (IVCT) processes revealed that the doubly π-bridging enhanced the charge delocalization between two nitrogen redox-active centers, whereas the electronic coupling was not so strengthened, in comparison with the singly π-bridging reference compound.

The Schiff base metal complexes containing the transition metal ions Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) were synthesized using their nitrate and acetate salts. An octahedral environment encircling metal complexes has been demonstrated by the findings of multiple spectroscopic approaches that were employed to demonstrate the structure of the metal complexes. The Coats-Redfern method of thermal analysis was employed to carry out the kinetic and thermodynamic calculations.

The binding interaction of food preservatives and pesticides has emerged as a matter of paramount importance as it not only presents potential health hazards but also carries substantial consequences for food processing and preservation. Herein, the mechanism of interaction between lysozyme and Amitraz was explored through spectroscopic and computational techniques. Spectral investigations indicated the spontaneous nature and stability of the lysozyme-Amitraz complex.
