One of the central questions in microbial ecology is how to explain the high biodiversity of communities. A large number of rare taxa in the community have not been excluded by abundant taxa with competitive advantages, a contradiction known as the biodiversity paradox. Recently, increasing evidence has revealed the central importance of antimicrobial toxins as crucial weapons of antagonism in microbial survival.

Richard Easterlin's groundbreaking research in the 1970s revealed a paradox: while higher individual incomes within countries are associated with greater happiness, this trend does not hold across countries. This paradox highlights the significance of relative income over absolute income.

The study analyzes a CDC dataset on US adult obesity and physical activity from 2011 to 2022. Despite rising obesity rates and insufficient fruit consumption, physical activity levels are increasing and overweight rates are slightly declining. The role of ultra-processed food intake, price sensitivity, early eating habits, and stress in obesity is highlighted.

Lung cancer is among the most common instances of cancer subtypes and is associated with high mortality rates. Due to the availability of fewer therapies and delayed clinical investigations, the number of cancer incidences is rising dramatically. This is possibly an effect of immune modulations and chemotherapeutic drugs that raises cancer resistance.
