Total pneumonectomy combined with thoracoplasty should be applied to tuberculosis-destructed lungs unresponsive to anti-TB treatment, of which the clinical symptoms are evident and both the maximum ventilation and vital capacity are 50% of the estimated values, and in which no organic disorders of the heart are found on examination. But for those below the age of 18, or with the left lung destructed alone, obvious left deviation of the mediastinum, relatively smaller residual cavity on the left side and negative sputum, simple total pneumonectomy should be considered. Postoperative care to improve the resistance of the respiratory system and to prevent recurrent infection is of significance to better long-term response.

Objective: To investigate the safety and feasibility of sleeve resection under Uni-VATS following neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy for locally advanced central-type non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).
Methods: We analyzed 10 cIIB-IIIB NSCLC patients who underwent sleeve lung resection under single-port thoracoscopy from December 2022 to August 2023 after receiving platinum-based chemotherapy combined with albumin paclitaxel and programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitor drugs. Perioperative clinical data, side effects during neoadjuvant therapy, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, conversion rate to open thoracotomy, postoperative duration of chest tube placement, postoperative drainage volume, postoperative complications, and tumor outcomes were recorded.

Hypercoagulability in lung cancer has been well described, but multiple arterial emboli are uncommon complications of pneumonectomy. A 59-year-old man underwent a pneumonectomy for squamous cell lung cancer and an intraoperative brachial artery embolism was diagnosed after an abrupt loss of pulse oximeter signal and arterial line waveforms. A cerebral embolization, manifested as a unilateral motor deficit, was noted during the emergence from anesthesia.

Background: Chest computed tomography (CT) may provide evidence to forecast unexpected recurrence and metastasis following radical surgery for stage I synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (SMPLC).
Objective: This study aims to develop and validate a novel CT-based multi-parametric decision tree algorithm (CT-DTA) model capable of accurate risk assessment.
Design: A multicenter retrospective cohort study.

Background: Robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) is more precise and flexible than video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. This study compared the early postoperative functional recovery of patients who underwent triportal RATS with that of patients who underwent uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery (UVATS) for segmentectomy.
Methods: This observational, prospective study included 172 patients with clinical stage I or II peripheral NSCLC who underwent RATS or UVATS segmentectomy.

Introduction: Globally, lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and continues to take the lead in cancer-related mortality rates. This study aims to provide the latest statistics on the clinical, histopathological, and epidemiological features of lung cancer patients who underwent surgical resection in referral hospitals in Southern Iran.
Method: In this retrospective study, records of all patients with operable primary and secondary lung cancer who underwent surgical resection of the lung in Shiraz hospitals, located in Southern Iran from November 2009 to May 2022 were screened.
