The aim of this report is to describe the presentation and management of eyelid injury resulting from the hook of a rubber string. A seven-year-old boy presented with pain of the right upper eyelid. A rubber string with metal hook ends, snatched his right eye from below. The hook pierced through his upper eyelid from the conjunctival surface and remained in situ. However, there was no globe laceration noted. Removal was performed by reverse-tracking of the hook through the wound. The wound was stitched with 6'0 Vicryl sutures. Healing was excellent with minimal scarring.

Chitosan-based porous materials have potential to develop into a new generation of high performance sustainable thermal insulation materials. In this study, hydrophobic and enhanced phosphorylated porous materials (PCSM) were constructed by the in-situ crosslinking of methytrimethoxylsilane (MTMS), and modified SiO nanoparticles (H-SiO) were further incorporated into the crosslinking networks to fabricate superhydrophobic and reinforced PCSM-H-SiO porous composites. The morphology of PCSM-H-SiO porous materials exhibited special micro-nanoscale "pearl string-like" rough and interpenetrating pore wall structure, which endowed them superhydrophobicity and self-cleaning ability.

Technique: (1) A four-pointed star-shaped incision was made to separate the skin around the stoma intestine. (2) The stoma intestine was resected, and side-to-side or end-to-side anastomosis was performed to restore the continuity of the intestine. (3) The peritoneum and rectus sheath should be closed using continuous full-thickness sutures.

The manuscript describes the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) for thyroid lobectomy. The patient is placed in the supine position with extension and fixation of the neck. One 20 mm transverse incision and two 5 mm incisions are made through the mucosa of the oral vestibule for camera and instrument placement after disinfection of the skin and oral cavity.

Vulvar allergic contact dermatitis (vACD) and irritant contact dermatitis (vICD) are common and accompanied by a great burden on the patient's life. We aimed to review the existing literature on vACD and vICD in order to provide a comprehensive reference list of potential vulvar allergens and irritants, as well as to establish the role of patch testing therein. A systematic search was performed in Medline, Embase and Web of Science using a search string based on the PICO-format.

Research on Silicone Rubber Sheds of Decay-Like Fractured Composite Insulators Based on Hardness, Hydrophobicity, NMR, and FTIR.

Polymers (Basel)

August 2022

State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment & System Security and New Technology, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, China.

The safety and stability of power systems are seriously threatened by the decay-like fracture of composite insulators. This paper analyzes the aging characteristics (physical properties, NMR, and FTIR) of the silicone rubber sheds of the decay-like fractured insulator. The same V-string insulator and a new insulator are used for comparison.
