Alzheimer's disease requires specific patient management. This can involve non-drug-based treatments such as a cognitive stimulation programme to reinforce the patient's skills. By offering a combination of information and training to the family and caregivers, the patient's quality of life can be improved.

Background: Austria is among the countries with the highest incidence and prevalence of osteoporotic fractures worldwide. Guidelines for the prevention and management of osteoporosis were first published in 2010 under the auspices of the then Federation of Austrian Social Security Institutions and updated in 2017. Medication overuse headache (MOH) places both a physical and emotional burden on patients. MOH may occur as a consequence of a negative spiral of events comprising an increasing number of headache days while taking frequent or excessive amounts of medications for acute treatment of headaches or migraine. Despite acute and prophylactic treatment options, there remains a complex subset of patients who fail first-line oral prophylactic therapies due to insufficient response or failure to tolerate, and require access to new prophylactic treatment options, including calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) inhibitors such as eptinezumab.

Background: Long-term prescriptions of strong opioids for chronic noncancer pain-which are not supported by scientific evidence-suggest miscalibrated risk perceptions among those who prescribe, dispense, and take opioids. Because risk perceptions and behaviors can differ depending on whether people learn about risks through description or experience, we investigated the effects of descriptive versus simulated-experience educative formats on physicians' risk perceptions of strong opioids and their prescription behavior for managing chronic noncancer pain.
Methods: Three hundred general practitioners and 300 pain specialists in Germany-enrolled separately in two independent exploratory randomized controlled online trials-were randomly assigned to either a descriptive format (fact box) or a simulated-experience format (interactive simulation).

Background: Opioid prescribing to treat chronic non-cancer pain has rapidly increased, despite a lack of evidence for long-term safety and effectiveness. A pain review service was developed to work with patients taking opioids long-term to explore opioid use, encourage non-drug-based alternatives, and, where appropriate, support dose reduction.
Aim: To evaluate the service and its potential impact on opioid use, health and wellbeing outcomes, and quality of life (QoL).
