We present the synthesis of a novel benzimidazolium-based surface active ionic liquid (SAIL), 3-dodecyl-1-3λ-benzo[]imidazole chloride, a SAIL with excellent surface activity and self-aggregation tendency whose aqueous micellar solutions offer exceptional solubilizing capacity and electrocatalytic performance for efficient electrocarboxylation of halocarbons.

This paper describes an electropolymerization-based on-chip valving system, accomplished by electrosynthesis of conductive polymeric ionic liquid (CPIL) films at selected points within an array of bipolar electrodes (BPEs), in which each of these wireless electrodes spans an IL-aqueous phase boundary. The low viscosity and high hydrophobicity of the CPIL precursor allow it to be patterned by established microfluidic methods. This advancement has the potential to impact microscale analysis because it allows on-demand creation of solid CPIL microstructures at locations specified by microfluidics, phase boundaries, and electrode potentials.

To obtain a better understanding of TiO2 nanotube (TiO2-NT) synthesis in different ethylene glycol (EG)-based electrolyte solutions by electrochemical anodization, the primary steps of TiO2-NT formation were studied by experimental techniques. In this regard, three different EG-based electrolyte solutions were used for anodic oxidation of titanium foil. The first electrolyte solution contains conventional ammonium fluoride (NH4F) dissolved in EG/water (98 : 2 v/v).

This study demonstrates a method for improving supercapacitive performance of electrochemically synthesized conductive polymer. In this regards, 1-Butyl-3-methyl imidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BI) as a new high efficient ionic liquid was synthesized using chemical approach and then fabricated POAP/BI films by electro-polymerization of POAP in the presence of BI to serve as the active electrode for electrochemical supercapacitor. Theoretical study (AIM) and electrochemical analysis have been used for characterization of ionic liquid and POAP/BI composite film.

Magnetic functional graphene oxide (MFGO) has been synthesized in this work using FeCl magnetic anion paired with 1-methyl imidazolium cation. Hybrid poly ortho aminophenol (POAP)/MFGO films have then been prepared via POAP electropolymerization in the presence of MFGO nanosheets, serving as active electrodes for electrochemical supercapacitors. The FeCl functional group in MFGO plays a major part in atomic scale charge/energy transfer and consequently intramolecular electrochemical phenomena in MFGO systems, as shown by the theoretical results.
