Introduction: imazamox is a herbicide used in many legominous and cereal crops. There are few methods in the literature for determination of imazamox and its metabolites in plants because of the lack of commercial standards or owing to expensive and/or complex synthesis.

Objective: To develop a method based on liquid chromatography and ultraviolet absorption detection for simultaneous determination of imazamox and its metabolites in plants.

Methods: Sample preparation was based on ultrasound-assisted extraction (70 W power and duty cycle of 0.7 s/s for 10 min) with subsequent filtration of the extracts and clean-up and concentration prior to chromatographic separation and detection at 240 nm. The chromatographic analysis was completed in 30 min using a Luna® HILIC column. Identification and confirmatory analysis of the presence of imazamox and its metabolites in extracts from treated plants was performed by LC-TOF/MS in high resolution mode for precursor ions. The metabolites were quantified using a surrogate approach based on an imazamox standard. The method was validated by analysing wheat samples treated with 200 g per hectare of active ingredient imazamox.

Results: The linear dynamic range of the calibration curve was within 0.27-600 µg/mL, with a correlation coefficient of 0.998 and precision--studied at 0.1 and 2 µg/mL--of 2.9% and 5.0% for repeatability, and 4.7% and 6.9% for reproducibility, respectively.

Conclusion: The analytical characteristics of the method make it recommendable for evaluating the metabolism of imazamox in plants.

Imazamox (IMX), a chiral herbicide used in cereals and oilseed crops to control weeds, is commonly sold as a racemic mixture. Its enantiomers, being chiral compounds, may exhibit unique properties when exposed to chiral environments. While IMX enantiomers have been reported to degrade differently in soil and be toxic to some species, their effects on human systems remain poorly understood.

Background: Early detection of herbicide resistance in weeds is crucial for successful implementation of integrated weed management. We conducted a herbicide resistance survey of the winter annual grasses feral rye (Secale cereale), downy brome (Bromus tectorum), and jointed goatgrass (Aegilops cylindrica) from Colorado winter wheat production areas for resistance to imazamox and quizalofop.

Results: All samples were susceptible to quizalofop.

In vitro cultures have been used as an effective means to achieve a high level of secondary metabolites in various plants, including soy. In this study, the contents of α-, γ-, and δ- tocopherol were quantified in soybean callus, and their amounts were compared to those of soybeans cultivated using the conventional tillage system with three weed controls (respectively without herbicide and with two variants of herbicide). Soybean callus was produced using Murashige and Skoog 1962 (MS) medium supplemented with 0.

Imazamox (IM) is a chiral pesticide that has been widely used in agriculture. Currently, few studies have investigated the toxicity mechanisms of imazamox to aquatic macrophyte from the enantiomer level. In this study, the enantioselective effects of IM on the toxicity and physiological and biochemical system of aquatic macrophyte Lemna minor were systematically investigated.

Resistance to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibiting herbicides has recently been reported in from wheat fields in northern Tunisia, where the weed is widespread. However, potential resistance mechanisms conferring resistance in these populations are unknown. The aim of this research was to study target-site resistance (TSR) and non-target-site resistance (NTSR) mechanisms present in two putative resistant (R) populations.
