Endovascular therapy versus anticoagulation alone for subacute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis.

J Vasc Interv Radiol

December 2024

Department of Vascular Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai JiaoTong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China; Vascular Center of Shanghai JiaoTong University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Purpose: This study evaluated whether endovascular therapy (ET) improved early symptom relief and decreased the incidence of moderate-to-severe post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) compared to anticoagulation alone in patients with subacute (15-28 days) iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients with subacute iliofemoral DVT from January 2020 to June 2022 were identified. A total of 86 patients were categorized to treatment with ET alongside anticoagulation (endovascular group, n = 49) or anticoagulation alone (anticoagulation group, n = 37).

Purpose: Despite significant advancements in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), post-EVT mortality remains a considerable concern. However, there is a lack of real-world epidemiological data delineating the characteristics of mortality for EVT, particularly in recent years following the widespread promotion of EVT treatment for stroke patients.

Methods: This multicenter, retrospective study collected data from 721 AIS patients who died following EVT across 33 hospitals in Sichuan Province, China, from January 2019 to September 2022.

Primary Lymphedema: Anatomically Isolated or a Pervasive Systemic Disorder?

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open

December 2024

From the Department of Plastic Surgery, Center for Lymphedema Research and Reconstruction, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.

Background: Primary lymphedema, a condition characterized by impaired lymphatic function, has long remained underexplored. Current diagnostic approaches rely on clinical history and genetic testing, yet the genetic underpinnings remain elusive in many cases. Traditional thinking suggests that primary lymphedema is confined to specific anatomical regions, but our experience challenges this notion.
