An organic redox couple tetramethylthiourea/tetramethylformaminium disulfide (TMTU/TMFDS(2+) ) is evaluated in dye-sensitized solar cells in conjunction with a series of indoline and ruthenium-based dyes. Of these, devices with indoline dye D205 show the best performance, with an optimized power conversion efficiency of 7.6 % under AM 1.5G 1 sun illumination. Charge collection and injection are highly efficient in all TMTU-based DSCs studied. Regeneration of indoline dyes is highly efficient, whereas regeneration of ruthenium dyes by TMTU is less efficient, accounting for their inferior performance. Impedance spectroscopy results reveal that using an optimized TMTU/TMFDS(2+) electrolyte solution, the TiO2 conduction band edge is 300-400 meV lower than when an optimized I3 (-) /I(-) electrolyte is used. The would-be loss in open-circuit voltage caused by the downward conduction band shift is mostly compensated by approximately the 200 meV lower redox level of the TMTU/TMFDS(2+) electrolyte and up to 1000 times slower recombination rates. This makes TMTU/TMFDS(2+) a promising redox couple in the development of highly efficient solar energy conversion devices.

The development of high-brightness electron sources is critical to state-of-the-art electron accelerator applications like X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) and ultra-fast electron microscopy. Cesium telluride is chosen as the electron source material for multiple cutting-edge XFEL facilities worldwide. This manuscript presents the first demonstration of the growth of highly crystalized and epitaxial cesium telluride thin films on 4H-SiC and graphene/4H-SiC substrates with ultrasmooth film surfaces.

A new humic acid-based nanomagnetic copper(II) composite was prepared and used as an eco-friendly recoverable catalyst for synthesizing 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles. The synthesis was done via the three-component click reaction of alkyl halide, sodium azide, and terminal alkyne with good to excellent yield. A simple magnetic copper acetate composite, FeO@HA-Cu(OAc), was prepared using humic acid and characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, EDX, EDS-mapping, VSM, TGA, AAS, and FT-IR.

This paper presents an in-depth analytical investigation into the time-dependent flow of a Casson hybrid nanofluid over a radially stretching sheet. The study introduces the effects of magnetic fields and thermal radiation, along with velocity and thermal slip, to model real-world systems for enhancing heat transfer in critical industrial applications. The hybrid nanofluid consists of three nanoparticles-Copper and Graphene Oxide-suspended in Kerosene Oil, selected for their stable and superior thermal properties.

Passive radiative cooling has recently gained significant attention as a highly promising technology that offers a zero-energy and electricity-free solution to tackle the pressing issue of global warming. Nevertheless, research efforts have predominantly focused on enhancing daytime and hot-day radiative cooling efficacy, often neglecting the potential downsides associated with excessive cooling and the consequent increased heating expenses during cold nights and winter days. Herein, we demonstrate a micro-nanostructured engineered composite film that synergistically integrates room-temperature adaptive silica-shell/oil-core phase change microcapsules (S-PCMs) with commercially available cellulose fibers.

The Ph3P-I2-mediated reactions between isatins and amines were extensively investigated leading to the discovery of highly selective and divergent routes toward the synthesis of two distinct classes of indole-based frameworks. Through a strategic design of the reaction paths, we overcome potential side reactions to achieve convenient and straightforward one-pot methods to access either indoloquinazolines with C-12 carboxamide or 2-aminosubstituted indol-3-ones using the same reagent system. Mechanistic studies reveal the role of Ph3P-I2 in governing product selectivity, providing an efficient route to novel fused-indolone derivatives with promising applications in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.
