Background: Online formative tests (OFTs) are powerful tools to direct student learning behavior, especially when enriched with specific feedback.
Aim: In the present study, we have investigated the effect of OFTs enriched with hyperlinks to microlectures on examination scores.
Methods: OFTs, available one week preceding each midterm and the final exams, could be used voluntarily. The use of OFTs was related to scores on midterm and final exams using ANOVA, with prior academic achievement as a covariate.
Results: On average, 74% of all students used the online formative tests (OFT+) while preparing for the summative midterm exam. OFT+ students obtained significantly higher grades compared to OFT-students, both without and with correction for previous academic achievement. Two out of three final exam scores did not significantly improve.
Conclusion: Students using online formative tests linked to microlectures receive higher grades especially in highly aligned summative tests.

Aim: To compare the effects of traditional and platform-based case-based learning (CBL) on undergraduate nursing students' academic performance, self-efficacy, clinical decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
Background: Traditional CBL can improve students' academic performance but faces challenges in the era of "Internet + education." It is unclear whether platform-based CBL is as effective as traditional CBL.
Background: Graduates who fail the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) require evidence-informed educational support.
Method: This educational development study tested an online program created by a nurse educator and researcher for Canadian-educated nursing students ( = 19) who were taking the NCLEX-RN for the second time. Data collected were biweekly virtual meetings with detailed field notes, program completion data, and self-reported NCLEX-RN results.

Background: There is an urgent need to innovate methods of health education, which can often be resource- and time-intensive. Microinterventions have shown promise as a platform for rapid, tailored resource dissemination yet have been underexplored as a method of standardized health or dietary education; social media chatbots display unique potential as a modality for accessible, efficient, and affordable educational microinterventions.
Objective: This study aims to provide public health professionals with practical recommendations on the use of social media chatbots for health education by (1) documenting the development of a novel social media chatbot intervention aimed at improving dietary attitudes and self-efficacy among South Asian American young adults and (2) describing the applied experiences of implementing the chatbot, along with user experience and engagement data.
