AI Article Synopsis

  • Healthcare information systems are seen as a key way to improve patient services and the overall economic sustainability of healthcare.
  • To effectively evaluate these systems, economic models need to be applied to assess their impact on healthcare settings.
  • This paper introduces a mathematical model that measures the adequacy and significance of adopting Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs), focusing on the involvement of General Practitioners and patients in the testing process and resource allocation for effective strategies.

Article Abstract

The development of healthcare information systems is broadly considered a promising strategy to ensure, enhance and deliver of quality patient services, thus improving the healthcare economic sustainability [1]. However, their systematic evaluation needs to implement economic evaluation models that can help decision makers to determine a feasible and suitable analysis of the impact of an information system in the appropriate healthcare setting [2]. Aim of this paper is to define a mathematical model to provide an "ex-ante" measure of adequacy and significance in the adoption process of Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs). In particular, the model establishes how different subjects (General Practitioners, GPs and patients) are involved in the testing process and how the resources provided can be invested to find out the most suitable intervention strategies.

Biokinetic models can optimise pollutant degradation and enhance microbial growth processes, aiding to protect ecosystem protection. Traditional biokinetic approaches (such as Monod, Haldane, etc.) can be challenging, as they require detailed knowledge of the organism's metabolism and the ability to solve numerous kinetic differential equations based on the principles of micro, molecular biology and biochemistry (first engineering principles) which can lead to discrepancies between predicted and actual degradation rates.

The stone marten (Martes foina) is an important species for cytogenetic studies in the order Carnivora. ZooFISH probes created from its chromosomes provided a strong and clean signal in chromosome painting experiments and were valuable for studying the evolution of carnivoran genome architecture. The research revealed that the stone marten chromosome set is similar to the presumed ancestral karyotype of the Carnivora, which added an additional value for the species.

Background: Treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) with catheter ablation (CA) has evolved significantly. However, real-world data on long-term outcomes are limited, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

Objective: This multicenter prospective cohort of consecutive patients aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of first-time CA for AF in Southern Brazil from 2009 to 2024.

Departamento de Química e Energia. Faculdade de Engenharia e Ciências, UNESP/Campus Guaratinguetá. Guaratinguetá SP Brasil.

This study evaluated the role of temperature and fine particulate matter in hospitalizations of children living in Cuiabá-MT, obtained from DATASUS, between 01/01/2016 and 12/31/2018. Daily concentrations of the pollutant fine particulate matter were estimated using the CAMS mathematical model, made available by CPTEC. Diagnoses of tracheitis and laryngitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchiolitis and asthma were included.

Departamento de Odontologia Social, Faculdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba, Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Campinas SP Brasil.

This research aimed to estimate the direct costs and analyze the epidemiological aspects of ambulatory care-sensitive conditions (ACSC) in children under one year of age, São Paulo municipality, 2011-2022. Total and average costs were calculated according to ACSC diagnosis groups by components (early neonatal, late neonatal, and post-neonatal). The trend in ACSC rates was analyzed using Prais-Winsten generalized linear regression.
