A2BP1 is considered to regulate alternative splicing of important neuronal transcripts and has been implicated in a variety of neurological and developmental disorders. A2BP1 was found in neuronal cells and was analyzed biochemically and morphologically. In this study, we prepared a specific antibody against A2BP1, anti-A2BP1, and carried out protein expression and localization analyses of A2BP1 in rat and mouse tissues. By Western blotting, A2BP1 showed tissue-dependent expression profiles and was expressed in a developmental-stage-dependent manner in the brain. A2BP1 was detected at high levels in neocortex and cerebellum in the rat brain. Immunohistochemical analyses demonstrated that A2BP1 was highly expressed in differentiated neurons but not in mitotically active progenitor cells in the cerebral cortex during developmental stages. In cortical neurons, A2BP1 had accumulated mainly in the nucleus and diffusely distributed in the cell body and dendrites. In differentiated primary cultured rat hippocampal neurons, although A2BP1 was enriched in the nucleus and diffusely distributed in the cytoplasm, it was found in a punctate distribution adjacent to synapses. The results suggest that in neuronal tissues A2BP1 plays important roles, which are regulated in a spatiotemporal manner.

Introduction: During mesenchymal stem cell (MSCs) aging, a decrease in its proliferation and regenerative capacity occurs, which is implicated in human aging. The MSCs aging process is regulated by genetics, metabolism, the external environment, and various complex pathways.

Method: The aging of MSCs during in vitro culture poses a major challenge for developing cell therapy aimed at combating human diseases and aging.

The primary sensory neurons of the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) are subject to transcriptional alterations following peripheral nerve injury. These alterations are believed to play a pivotal role in the genesis of neuropathic pain. Alternative RNA splicing is a process that generates multiple transcript variants from a single gene, significantly contributing to the complexity of the transcriptome.

Background: Since obesity and diabetes are prevalent worldwide, identifying the factors affecting these two conditions can effectively alter them. We decided to investigate the expression of obesity and diabetes genes in infants with birth weights lower than 2500 g in comparison with infants with normal birth weights.

Methods: 215 healthy infants between the ages of 5-6 months were used in the current case-control research, which was conducted at health and treatment facilities in Kermanshah.

Department of Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialties, Medicine and Dentistry School, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to analyze the DNA methylation patterns in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) to find new markers for early detection through saliva samples.
  • - Researchers conducted a genome-wide methylation analysis, identifying 25,890 differentially methylated CpG sites, and validated the hypermethylation of 11 genes using existing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).
  • - Six of these hypermethylated genes showed strong diagnostic accuracy (≥0.800) in saliva, highlighting their potential as early detection markers for OTSCC.
