Splenic contusion was revealed in 12% of the sufferers with splenic trauma. The main methods for diagnosis of contusion are computerized tomography and angiography. The treatment is conservative. The operation is indicated in development of complications: splenic abscess, posttraumatic thrombophlebitic splenomegaly, intrasplenic hematoma.

Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS), also known as hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD), is a life-threatening complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In severe cases, SOS/VOD progresses to multiple organ failure with a mortality rate higher than 80%.
