The aim of this study was to investigate whether time of toe-off and heel-contact during gait initiation could be assessed with a single force plate. Twenty subjects performed ten self-paced gait initiations and seven other subjects performed ten gait initiations in four new conditions (slow, fast, obstacle and splint). Several force-plate parameters were measured with a single force plate, and actual toe-off and heel-contact were assessed with a motion analysis system. Results showed strong temporal correlations and closeness (r=.86-.99, mean error=3-86 ms) between two force-plate parameters and the kinematics events (toe-off and heel-contact). These new parameters may be of interest to easily measure duration of anticipatory postural adjustments and swing phase during clinical assessments.

Background: Intraoperative hip capsule management is increasingly recognized as an important component of hip arthroscopy for the prevention of capsular-related instability. The periportal capsulotomy, relative to the interportal capsulotomy, has been proposed as a minimally invasive technique for decreasing postarthroscopy hip instability; however, the biomechanical effects of this technique are not well established.
Purpose/hypothesis: This study aimed to provide a biomechanical characterization of interportal and periportal capsulotomies, helping inform surgeon choice of capsulotomy type and repair, potentially guiding clinical practice in hip arthroscopy.

Epidemiological studies indicate that the involvement of the immune system in the pathogenesis of infections associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and interstitial lung disease (ILD) remains unclear. This study aims to assess the potential causal link between infections associated with COPD, asthma, or ILD and immune system function. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis using publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) datasets.

The electromagnetic characteristics of a single-phase permanent magnet linear oscillation actuator are analyzed by the finite element method. Firstly, the basic structure and operation principle of the linear oscillation actuator are introduced. The internal stator slot and arc tooth are used to reduce the detent force.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 12-week self-designed exercise game intervention on the kinematic and kinetic data of the supporting leg in preschool children during the single-leg jump.
Methods: Thirty 5- to 6-year-old preschool children were randomly divided into an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). The BTS SMART DX motion capture analysis system was used to collect single-leg jump data before the intervention.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by a slow, short-stepping, shuffling gait pattern caused by a combination of motor control limitations due to a reduction in dopaminergic neurons. Gait disorders are indicators of global health, cognitive status, and risk of falls and increase with disease progression. Therefore, the use of quantitative information on the gait mechanisms of PD patients is a promising approach, particularly for monitoring gait disorders and potentially informing therapeutic interventions, though it is not yet a well-established tool for early diagnosis or direct assessment of disease progression.
