AI Article Synopsis

  • Meniscal total knee replacement permits free axial rotation, unlike total condylar designs, which helps to decrease torque on the tibial component.
  • The average axial rotation observed in patients with this type of knee replacement is about 6 degrees.
  • Additionally, the polyethylene 'menisci' in these replacements can move approximately 3 mm during use.

Article Abstract

Meniscal total knee replacement differs from total condylar designs in that it allows free axial rotation. This reduces torque forces on the tibial component and may help to prevent aseptic loosening. The amount of rotation occurring in patients with meniscal total knee replacement was an average range of 6 degrees. The average movement of the polyethylene 'menisci' is 3 mm.

Establishing normative values and understanding how proprioception varies among body parts is crucial. However, the variability across individuals, especially adolescents, makes it difficult to establish norms. This prevents further investigation into classifying patients with abnormal proprioception.

A 33-year-old male patient developed distal femur chronic osteomyelitis with massive bone loss after an open grade-3b fracture. Following several failed treatments to eradicate infection, a tibial turn-up procedure was performed to provide a stable and functional stump. To avoid neurovascular problems, the popliteal vessels and sciatic nerve were moved medially, and the flap was rotated externally to decrease the collapse.

Nothronychus graffami was a large therizinosaur represented by a single well-preserved individual from the Turonian Tropic Shale of southern Utah. It is characterized by an enlarged abdomen, small tail, and an extensively pneumatized axial skeleton, and is frequently regarded as herbivorous. Given the overall tail reduction and the development of a wide fused synsacrum with widely spaced acetabulae, it is reconstructed with an anteriorly rotated femur and a displaced resting ground reaction force anterior to the center of mass.

Birds use their claws to perch on branches, which helps them to recover energy and observe their surroundings; however, most biomimetic flapping-wing aircraft can only fly, not perch. This study was conducted on the basis of bionic principles to replicate birds' claw and wing movements in order to design a highly biomimetic flapping-wing aircraft capable of perching. First, a posture conversion module with a multi-motor hemispherical gear structure allows the aircraft to flap, twist, swing, and transition between its folded and unfolded states.

Background: Supination external rotation (SER) fibula fractures with abnormal medial clear space (MCS) on stress radiographs that normalizes with weightbearing radiographs, termed SER4a ankle fractures, pose a challenge in treatment decision making. This study aims to quantify differences in joint contact area, tibiotalar rotation, and translation using weightbearing computed tomography (CT) scans in SER4a ankle fractures.

Methods: Between November 2022 and September 2023, patients presenting with isolated Weber B fibula fractures were evaluated for inclusion.
