A series of dibenzo [n.2.2] bicyclic compounds (n = 2-20) were prepared in one step and good yields starting from dimethyl anthracene-9,10-dicarboxylate. Reduction of the aromatic diester using lithium/naphthalene led to a bis-enolate that was cyclized with a variety of bis-electrophiles. The ease of the cyclization is probably due to the puckered conformation of the intermediate formed after the first alkylation step, in which the newly introduced chain that will become the bridge portion occupies a pseudoaxial position, positioning the leaving group close to the enolate nucleophile in the macrocyclization step.

Two-dimensional conductive metal-organic frameworks (2D c-MOFs) with high electrical conductivity and tunable structures hold significant promise for applications in metal-ion batteries. However, the construction of 3D interpenetrated c-MOFs for applications in metal-ion batteries is rarely reported. Herein, a 3D four-fold interpenetrated c-MOF (Cu-DBC) constructed by conjugated and contorted dibenzo[,]chrysene-2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15-octaol (DBC) ligands is explored as an advanced cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) for the first time.

This study aimed to investigate the association between estimated dietary intake of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and human sperm quality. This study cross-sectionally assessed the associations between estimated dietary intake of PCDD/Fs and sperm quality parameters in 200 participants aged 18-40 years from the Led-Fertyl study. Linear regression models, accounting for potential confounding variables, were employed to evaluate the relationships.

Background/objectives: Circadian clocks are endogenous systems that regulate numerous biological, physiological, and behavioral events in living organisms. Aging attenuates the precision and robustness of circadian clocks, leading to prolonged and dampened circadian gene oscillation rhythms and amplitudes. This study investigated the effects of food-derived polyphenols such as ellagic acid and its metabolites (urolithin A, B, and C) on the aging clock at the cellular level using senescent human fibroblast cells, TIG-3 cells.

Direct lithium extraction from unconventional resources requires the development of effective adsorbents. Crown ether-containing materials have been reported as promising structures in terms of lithium selectivity, but data on adsorption in real, highly saline brines are scarce. Crown ether-grafted graphene oxides were synthesized using 2-hydroxymethyl-12-crown-4, hydroxy-dibenzo-14-crown-4 and epichlorohydrin as a source of anchoring groups.

An ellagitannin-derived metabolite, Urolithin A (UA), has emerged as a potential therapeutic agent for metabolic disorders due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and mitochondrial function-improving properties, but its efficacy in protecting against ER stress remains underexplored. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a cellular organelle involved in protein folding, lipid synthesis, and calcium regulation. Perturbations in these functions can lead to ER stress, which contributes to the development and progression of metabolic disorders such as metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).
